Carnival's "Shore Snorkel for beginners"

I have not done this excursion, but in general good beaches do not make for good snorkeling. The sand and waves tend to cloud the water and reduce visibility - better snorkeling is generally found in rocky areas and near coral reefs.

Check out the Money Bar - only a $10 cab ride away from the pier, great snorkeling from shore, they can rent you the gear and provide instruction & a guide if needed, sandy area for sunning and relaxing, and the food and drinks are great! :D

Good luck! :)

Hubby & I did this excursion back in October as it was our 1st time to snorkel. I think it's great for beginners & was worth it. The guides were nice, taxi was provided & once you had snorkeled with the tour guide, you could stay & snorkel for a little more, but we went on back to the ship to change & then go shopping. :) Also, there are lockers, which are a very good size, to rent for like $2.
