caribbean crazy Posted March 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Has anyone stayed at the Winterhaven Hotel in Miami on South Beach? If so, what did you think about it? We're booked to stay there pre-cruise in May. Thanks!
familyof4cruising Posted March 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2005 I stayed there last year. It is a clean hotel. It is in a perfect location to walk to everything. The beach is right in front. The staff was hospitable. Parking is very expensive. Perfect price for an expensive South Beach. For an overnight stay you can not go wrong. caribbean crazy Posted March 24, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted March 24, 2005 Thanks - the pictures look nice! So....can you give me an idea of parking expense for one night? Any suggestions for a good place to eat in walking distance and do you think it's ok to walk there at night? We've never been to Miami. Thanks so much! BlueHerons Posted March 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2005 Parking in South Beach is limited and expensive. Plan on between $18-$40 per day to park. The upper end prices being valet. If you street park, make sure you feed the meter or your car will get towed. Do not ignore the No Parking signs or permit parking only signs. South Beach is safe at night but always use comon sense. mu1809 Posted March 25, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2005 Highly recommend an Italian restaurant on Espanola Way called Hosteria Romana. We ate there last year when we stayed in South Beach before a cruise and had the best meal. We will be back again this year before our cruise. Food was delicious and atmosphere was wonderful. Read a review of it under south beach restaurants on www.miamibeach411. Also recommend Coco Gelato on Washington just around the corner for desert. Better than any ice cream you have ever had. Would recommend a nightcap at the Lowes Hotel out side around the fountains-lovely way to end the evening. We did walk past Winterhaven and it looks nice-I had done alot of research before our cruise and that was where I wanted to stay, only problem was we had a teenage daughter with us and the rooms sleep 2 and no rollaways! Next time it is just my husband and myself, that is where we will stay. Have a great time.
caribbean crazy Posted March 25, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted March 25, 2005 Thank you for giving me a little confidence in my choice - when looking at the different choices, Winterhaven looked like it had atmosphere. Two months to go...
