Cruise canceled by weather

Just wondering if trip cancelation insurance is transferable if the cruise line cancels your cruise due to weather and you have to rebook for a later date? Or have you lost the money you paid for the insurance?

Just wondering if trip cancelation insurance is transferable if the cruise line cancels your cruise due to weather and you have to rebook for a later date? Or have you lost the money you paid for the insurance?

 

Many insurers will do that for you. But all that I'm aware of will require that you contact them prior to the original departure date showing on the existing policy so if you leave home and get to the pier only to find out the cruise has been cancelled you might be out of luck. Check with your insurer as their policies on this are all over the boards -- there's no industry standard for handling this type of situation.
