MSC excursions when getting ashore by tender

After 22 cruises on other lines DH and I are happily anticipating our first MSC cruise in October on the Poesia. On our Canada/New England itinerary the only port we have not been to before is Newport RI. The ship will only be in port for five hours and this is a tender port.

If we book an MSC excursion, will those taking that excursion meet in one of the lounges on board and will the group be escorted to an early tender (as with other cruise lines)? Or is the expectation that we line up for a tender on our own and hope we get ashore in time to make our scheduled excursion?

Thanks for any input:)

Hi Kathy , I havent done tender ports yet either - my expectation is that you will meet in one of the lounges and be escorted together for your tender. At every port we visited all MSC tours met in a designated lounge area and left the boat together. The only time I experienced having to meet elsewhere was in the car park for the coach after disembarking - of course that was so we could all collect our luggage before getting the bus to the next port for our B2B cruise.

All the excursions meet in the various lounges and will go ashore on the first tenders. The groups are divided by excursion and by language and each person in the group will get an MSC adhesive with their group number. When the tenders are ready (as well as the tour buses and guides ashore) the groups will be called and escorted down to the appropriate tender. After all the excursion groups have left, the tenders will take those DIY and private tour passengers ashore.
