Ms. T Posted August 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2011 If I bring my own wine on the cruise and cork screw, do I still have to pay a corkage fee?
paul929207 Posted August 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Only if you take it to dinner. If you drink it in your cabin there is no charge.
eh2zed Posted August 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2011 You may wish to post your questions on the Carnival board under Cruise Lines. Carnival experts hang out there.

GlendaleCruiser Posted August 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2011 Only if you take it to dinner. If you drink it in your cabin there is no charge. That's what we do. Have a glass of our wine while we are getting ready for dinner and then done.
brfan Posted August 9, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2011 Only if you take it to dinner. If you drink it in your cabin there is no charge. The only exception that I know (and I know it doesn't apply to this particular case) is NCL. I believe you have to pay the corkage fee when you board regardless of where you plan on drinking the wine.
trish1c Posted August 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2011 It depends on the cruise line. I don't know about Carnival but on NCL you pay when you board. If you don't drink the wine, you can stand on a line & get a refund. "Corkage" fee is a misnomer. It's not about the labor to open your bottle. It's a way to recapture some of the revenue lost when you BYO.
