Fishbait17 Posted January 23, 2012 #151 Share Posted January 23, 2012 THIS TIME - we are driving and parking in the Miami port lot and will walk to the port building presumably along with our bags. Therein lies my question. Will we appear at the check-in with bags in hand? Is that even an option? We are in the GVS on the Pearl - so supposedly we will be escorted to our room and there will be an area to secure our bags until the room is ready. It would be nice to not have to wait for our bags to be delievered.. You can still drop your bags with the porters the same as if you arrived by taxi. I suppose you could carry all of your bags on, if they fit in the scanner at the security check. Either way, you will be able to drop your bags at the GV before you head out. dnl_in_Illinois Posted January 23, 2012 #152 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Thanks Robin and thanks Rich & Loretta! I think we will see if we can't just take our bags on with us. You're right about the scanner -- I forgot about that. Supposedly we will be escorted to the GV and that may help us get through the scanning process. It would just be nice for once not to have to wait for the bags to be delivered. Great information once again.
Bobbye Posted January 23, 2012 #153 Share Posted January 23, 2012 The scanner is before you get to the suites and villas check-in. Everyone has to go through the scanner, being escorted will not help pass that.

Everyone has to go through the scanner, being escorted will not help pass that. Thanks for that -- and I do understand that. But if we are being escorted by the concierge I don't think the security people will give us any hassle about bringing more that just our carry-on bags. That was my point. OR -- are you saying the scanners are BEFORE the registration check in and prior to being met by the escort? I was just there in August - and I thought the scanners were after the registration -- but then that was RCCL not NCL. I don't want to make a big deal out of it -- just want to do it if we can. Bobbye Posted January 23, 2012 #155 Share Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Yes, last time we did a GV out of Miami the scanners were BEFORE the registration check in and prior to being met by the escort. Last few times we were on Royal the scanners were before check-in. But that was in Fort Lauderdale not Miami. And with Royal the escorts for suites didn't meet you until after you checked in, went through the scanners, etc. Edited January 23, 2012 by Bobbye

RCCL, our August cruise was out of Ft Lauderdale. I think I'll evaluate this as we arrive and will go with the flow as they say. At least with this conversation we know what to expect and that is always helpful - and for me preferred. I don't recall having escorts on RCCL. We were in one of the Aqua Theater Suites in August which was wonderful -- but no escort. But then most of the suites are in another area of the ship so perhaps that is why. That was on the Oasis. Bobbye Posted January 23, 2012 #157 Share Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Royal doesn't escort all suites, just the Royal and Presidential Family. We were in an Aqua Theatre suite on the Allure in October and there was no escort. The Aqua Theatre suite was a great suite, I just wish Royal could come closer to NCL in Amenities! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=964001&highlight=ncl+to+royal+suite+comparison Edited January 23, 2012 by Bobbye

The times I've sailed on RCCL I have been with my young teen grand daughters who are not permitted in the area during cocktail hour - so it made our use somewhat infrequent. But we did enjoy the ATS and would not hesitate to book that again.
dnl_in_Illinois Posted February 16, 2012 #159 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Can anyone verify that suite guests in the Haven have the opportunity too use priorty tender boarding on the Epic. We were offered same on the Pearl in Jan/Feb. Not sure if the Epic has the same policy. Thanks for any help you can offer.

dnl_in_Illinois Posted February 16, 2012 #161 Share Posted February 16, 2012 The Epic does not tender so not an issue. We are sailing in the Mediterranean in July and there is at least two tender ports, Cannes and Marseile. Agree that there are no tender ports in the Caribbean as we've sailed the Epic there. I shudder to think about it! If they indeed do tender at those ports than I suggest you ask the concierge they will defiantly provide priority tender tickets and most likely escort you there. I'm positive that they tender at the Cannes port. Not as sure about Marseile or our first port of Naples. I've tendered off large ships in the past and it is not a pleasant process unless the tenders are provided by the port authority and carry upwards of 200 people per trip. While the Pearl is a smaller ship (about 3000 vs. 5000), we tendered in Cayman in early Feb and it went smoothly with the very large tenders operated by the port. Let's see what others say. kb1esx Posted April 2, 2012 #164 Share Posted April 2, 2012 I also think the list would be more complete if they would add butler assisted skeet shooting as a suite guests amenity. Yes PLEASE :D

rockabutzer Posted April 12, 2012 #166 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I imagine that ones bottom would get tender from bouncing around on the tender from ship to shore. :D

philatiger Posted April 26, 2012 #171 Share Posted April 26, 2012 It's been a while since we cruised NCL and really looking forward to getting back to the suite life. Do suites still get the flower arrangement? We are cruising for our anniversary and want flowers in the cabin. thanks
fabby50 Posted April 26, 2012 #172 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Flowers are still on the list. I hope they're in the room because I didn't order any. You can order on board if need be. We are on the Pearl this Sunday, so if they are not there, I will report back.
