Recommended Posts

hi MiniMoustic,

of course, it's possible.

The boat from Yalta to Alupka makes a stop in Swallow nest daily:

9.40, 10.20 (transit from Gurzuf, 10.50, 11.25 (transit from

Alushta), 11.50, 12.20 (transit from Gurzuf), 13.00, 13.40, 14.15 (transit from Gurzuf),

14.45, 15.15, 16.00 (transit from Gurzuf), 16.35, 17.15 (transit from Gurzuf), 17.55,

18.50 (transit from Gurzuf), 19.50.

The price of one ticket from Yalta to Swallow's nest is 45 hryvnyas

(about 3.20 US dollars).

There are tour boats, too, called "Samantha Smith" and "Margate", you

can buy a ticket and they are waiting for you to come back and sail

back with them. Optionally, you can buy only one way ticket on any of

them.

Note, too, that you did not mention when you intend to take that boat.

The schedule varies from month to month, and the boats are less

frequent in September-October, and stop altogether somewhere in

November.

If there is a storm, none goes as well.

The boat takes you to the bottom of the rock upon which the Swallow's Nest sits. Be aware that there will be a considerable number of steps to climb to get to the top and it's a restaurant I believe. Our guide told us you can't go inside to visit although I think you can walk around the terracing outside.

Actually, since 23.07.2011 Swallow's nest is opened for tourists. The

entrance is free of charge. All you have to do is to walk up. On the

top, there are no restaurants, but an exhibition hall. If you want to

visit it, you will have to pay. If you do not, just visit the

Swallow's nest for free.

hi MiniMoustic,

I am not from Yalta.

Usually, boats and tour ship operate till late October, but they are

less frequent.

It's not possible to say in August what their schedule will be in

October, it depends on the weather, amount of people visiting and so

on.

As for today, a ticket on Samantha Smith costs 55 hryvnyas (about

7.30 US dollars), but people warn others that it gives you a place on

the filthy nether deck. If you want to sit on the top deck and admire

the views, you will have to pay on the boat, additional 10 hryvnyas

(about 1.20 US dollars).

Boats and tour boats, they all depart from Yalta trade port.

The current schedules are available over the booking offices.
