Allure Review, Pictures and Other Great Information: Aug 7, 2011 Sailing

Recommended Posts

Great review! I'm not even going on Allure (although we're thinking about it for next year), but I've read the whole thing so far; you captivated me!! I love the extra reviews from other people in your group, it adds great perspective! And your buddy, Mr. Bucket is a hoot!

Do you know if they had a slot tournament in the casino?

Hi vrock: this is a quote from someone in our group:

"Yes - the slots tournament was daily and it was taking the highest scorers for the day and there was a "final" tournament near the end of the cruise for the grand prizes.

Not nearly as much fun as the past when each tournament had 1st and 2nd pl winners each day that would win money."

hope that helps...

you don't have long before you will be sailing! :p

I ran across these links today, thought some might find them useful, I know it took me a while to get use to Embarkation vs Debarkation, Aft vs Forward, Port vs Starboard, etc....

Our D4 Balcony cabin on Deck 6 (Cabin #6676)

was right above life boat #13....

We knew exactly which one it was because

we taped a colored ribbon on the inside of the

safety glass on our deck which could be seen from the pier...;)

oops! That should have read "on our balcony" not "on our deck".

So any way we had a great meal that first night in Ft Lauderdale, got back to the hotel and went to Public's Grocery Store for the water, cranberry juice and ginger ale..(see post #49 for more on this issue).....(remember the Hyatt Shuttle could not take us to Public's)..we had to find our own transportation...

Back from the Public's, went to sleep and woke up early to go to the Fitness Center in the hotel...I had went there the afternoon before as well so I knew I had to get up early and go on Saturday as it is very small...a couple of treadmills, one bike and one elliptical and some weights...

I like to do elliptical then bike and then treadmill but the day before someone was on the elliptical and the bike when I arrived so I had to do treadmill first...kinda thru me off a little..:o....I know a little obsessive but so it is...anyway I knew to get up early Saturday and go so I could do my normal order...

Stayed for about an hour, got some FREE Continental Breakfast (fruit, muffins, juice, coffee) in the Lobby and went back to room to get dressed, me and sisters were walking to Kmart and whatever other stores we could make it to before getting too hot and tuckered out (which is across the big highway) and the rest of our group stopped us as we were walking just a little way from the hotel in a shuttle that they had booked to take them to the Mall (I think it is call Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall)

http://www.simon.com/mall/FloorPlan.aspx?id=1262

...shuttle was $4/person/each way booked it with the hotel...I think the restaurant the night before was actually $8/person each way...one or the other, the mall transport or the restaurant transport was $8 the other was $4...

this Mall is HUGE!!! it had a regular Outlet indoor mall with a lot of wings (corridors) and then it had Designer stores all around the outside...one end even had a HUGE SUPER Target and I mean it was a HUGE SUPER Target...haha...me and sisters were in heaven!!! We LUV to SHOP!!! We have opened and closed many Malls....:D...

Unfortunately we were on a time schedule so we had to be "tunnel visioned" (ha! I just made that word up!!!) and our first stop had to be the SUPER TARGET as we needed to get several items for the cruise... like more Febreeze, Lysol spray (you know toiletry type items) and I needed a travel purse backpack as the new one I had bought this time around was hurting my back and it would be the purse I carry for tours...but, to be honest shopping is just part of our traveling experience any way...:p...so whether we really needed something or not we were going to SHOP...haha

Next up part 2 of Precruise Day 2: onto the Hard Rock Resort and Casino followed by Embarkation and FINALLY! Seeing Ms. Allure in person!!!

Hoping You Stay for the Ride!!!!

Hey All,

I was one of the participants in the 'slots tournament' and agree it wasn't as much fun as on previous cruises. I didn't like the fact some slot were slower than others. I watched a few groups ahead of me and I guess they were not all calibrated(?) the same. We gave a good try!! lol

I will admit this was one change I didn't like, but there were so many more on the Allure that I loved.

We also, sat in Central Park one evening and listened to live music...it was very nice and relaxing. A glass of wine (or whatever your choice) and nice breeze, was exactily what the doctor ordered! I wish I was there right now ;)

When you are on the Boardwalk if you look up

you can see the Zipline....we were standing on the Sports Deck

looking down at the Boardwalk when we took this pic...the

blue and white circle is the top of the carousel...The

balconies are the Boardwalk Cabin Balconies

Another installment from bucket...

Day 3- St. Thomas...

Again we woke with no frantic mission to get off the ship...went up to windjammer and had breakfast...then we exited the ship...it was our first time at this port...we docked on the otherside previously...closer to downtown...so we walk around this little shopping area for about 1/2 hr....2 butterfly bought a lil dress...after a while, it was get back on the ship or venture outside this lil area...boom a couple steps and their shuttles and cabs everywhere....they had a sign with the prices of each trip...i think a bus downtown was $4 a person...not bad, so we jumped on this open air vehicle and began our ride...

as usual, everyone in these countries drive fast and hard...so your watching the sites and watching the rode at the same time...lol...its about 15 minute ride...we got off the bus and take a few steps...and we see our whole party, at the lil market...and they all looked hot and ready to go back on the ship...i was hot too...but i was hot for something else...'food'.... i told u...i was eating my excursions...lol...

so walked a lil more down the back street, sampling liquour as we went...then we go down this lil alley and find a lil shop that sold jerk chicken tacos and drinks...i tried a very good drink, while i waited for my taco....they have a lil area to sit down on the side and wait...we all enjoyed the fish tacos...it was a good amount of food for the price...

then we jumped back on one of the buses...which are ez to find and everywhere...and we headed back to the ship...bought some booze, and walked to the ship...only problem, there are large iguanas all over the rocks...some took pics...i took care and stayed away...lol...

back thru security, where this time they plant a bottle of johnnie walker on me...i was outraged at security...so i gave it back to them...lol...i think i took my only nap that day...then headed to the dogshack...ssccrreeaacchh...made the mistake of ordering the big apple...apple in a dog...didnt go to well... b4 u ask...i had the magic trifecta on it...but it still tasted too weird...

from their went over to schooner bar,, to check on my bartender...he was doing good, then so was i...lol....played a lil trivia, while sipping my beverage...Ok, its dinner time...same old story, except a lil slower than the previous nites...lol....if im not mistaken, this was the nite they had the parade...but since we were at dinner forever.....by the time i came out, the parade was over...thank you, mr. Waiter!

Went into the casino, did a lil bit better....and got out of their quick.

Headed down the hall to the comedy show...which is right around the corner. Get there and there is a line...no problem, we have reservations...so its a bunch of us and we wait...when we are ready to enter the lil comedy club is full.

They really should respect reservations since the place is so small...anyway, my b-in-law complained and got us reservations for another nite....thanks, bro...from there, we marched to blaze for my dreaded 2 for 1 drinks...lol

had a goood time and headed up to open-air...tonite was the nite....so i pick a song "dont go breakin my heart' by elton john and keke dee... And tell my lil sis what it is...boom, we hit the stage and commence to tear the roof off the sucka...lol...only then to be out-performed by neice and her 2 freinds...its hard to compete with pretty girls in short dresses...they sung and performed beyonce's put a ring on it...i admit they were better than us...but next time, im wearing speedos!!!

Then we all headed up to dazzles for michael jackson nite...that dang dj did it again...i almost died form all the dam dancing...i hate that guy...lol

escaped out of there again...and didnt go back for the rest of the cruise...lol...that was pretty much it....couple of slices and off to bed...good nite.

Bucket, the song by Beyonce is called 'Single Ladies' not put a ring on it! but close. lol The 3 princesses were famous for 1 wk...they were stopped often and sometimes they would get a quick 'single ladies' seranade! Too Funny!

However, that is taking nothing away from Bucket and his side kick doing the famous Elton John song...Bucket had microphone moves that were skillful and hilarious!

'On Air' was often very crowded...I wonder if RCCL will make it a little bigger on their next ship...some of the older ships had it tucked away on the lower level, now it is on Promenade deck and it is even more popular. I mean it is the place to have your 5mins of fame and fun everynight if you choose! So practice up and go for it!!

Across the hall is 'Boleros' my sister was constantly dancing across the deck to get her ' salsa' on! I liked the music, but they do allow smoking. So I listened alot from the outside of Boleros. Either way it is a great place to work off your dinner and dessert!!

found this pic and info from another cruiser's review...

She says: "We purchased the "beer bag/or bucket. $46.00 for 8 beers,

keep the insulated bag with bottle opener and shoulder strap for easy

carrying. Refilled with 8 beers and get one free. Can mix and match

your beers which was nice. "

For refills:"You pay for 7 ($42.00) and get one free.

All four of us like beer and we purchased it often so

it's good for us because you can mix/match any

beers and they stay cold":
