Allure Review, Pictures and Other Great Information: Aug 7, 2011 Sailing

Recommended Posts

I ran into this info this morning and thought that

it would be very useful info for any CPAP users...

also, I have heard that there were plugs

behind the beds but have been unable to locate them...

Now that I know where to look can't wait to get back

on so I can see one for myself...;)

Trainman-2 is currently on the Oasis doing a live review...

Attention CPAP Users...My CPAP on the shelf on my night stand

With the Mattress pulled up you can

see the hidden plug under the bed

I have Sleep Apnea and use a C-PAP as well. If you email the special needs department they should have distilled water and an extension cord waiting for you in your cabin.

You make the ship sound so enduring, can't wait to go. I'm a Carnival person, lets see if I turn into a RC person. Sounds beautiful, I am amazed at the drinks coming onboard though. Will review when we come off also. Thanks for all the insight....

Hi gotgrapes: I am glad you are enjoying it...you will have to find me if you become not an "RC person" but an "Oasis Class Person" because then it will be Mission Accomplished! ;) haha

as far as the drinks go I guess they don't loose enough $'s to be bothered with any rules about water, juice and sodas....

look forward to your review....please be sure to click my name here and leave me a message on the following thread which I post to at some time every week: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=225754&page=212

This is the place to go for the wonderful

Roast Beef Sandwiches you've heard

about at Park Cafe, quiet moments,

(just pick the right night time moment)

great music, Chops,

and to catch the Rising Tide Bar going down...

I will be sailing on the Allure Eastern route on Oct 16th. Could you please tell me when are formal nights and what were the best things to do and see in each port of call?

Thank you very much...I am so excited about going on this ship!

theone50: you don't have very long...I am very excited for you! :p ....thx for taking the time to post...

the Formal nights on the Aug 7 sailing were on Day 2 and Day 6...Day 2 was actually the Captain's Dinner night and Day 6 is when they had the Lobster I believe....I will post something about the ports later...

Thank you for answering my question about formal nights also. I will be sailing on the Allure on Oct 16th (Eastern Itinerary). After reading your review and other reviews I am so ready to sail on this ship and explore it just like you did! Thank you for writing a "GREAT" review of the ship.

Would love to have any suggestions about St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I have never been there and I am so looking forward to seeing what they have to offer. Waiting for your post on these ports of call.
Hi theone 50: In St Thomas and St. Maarten we decided to book our own tours...I have been to both Islands several times but neither sister had been....we wanted to be sure to get some Island Highlights, some Shopping and some Beach Time in each Port so we booked the non cruiseline tours that included all three...for St. Thomas i had used the tour guide on a couple other occasions and for St. Maarten I searched Cruise Critic and then mad a decision from the reviews I read...

For St. Thomas just the 3 of us went on the tour and for St. Martin 9 of us went...I will give a little review of the two tours (with a few pics) below and a longer review later...

The St T tour started out with 2 hours of shopping in the Charlotte Amalie's downtown area and then we toured the Island hitting all the major Highlights including the following:

Bluebeard's Castle, the highest point of St.Thomas -Mountain Top (1547 feet above sea level) , it was Beautiful! you can enjoy the world's famous Rum Banana Daiquiri and a large in door shopping areas. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean from the Mountain Top you will be able to see Magens Bay Beach, which is ranked as one of the top ten beaches in the world. You will also have a chance to stay at Coki Beach and Magen's Bay Beach if you choose.

For the ST M tour the highlight was the beach where the airplanes land right over your head. (Sunset Beach Bar) AMAZING!!!...some other highlights included:

a stop where you can hold live sea animals, the area where the French and Dutch border connect, Oyster Pond, during the island tour you see many beautiful homes and vegetation and even a Casino and several shopping areas, we decided to enjoy a wonderful lunch on this tour rather than shopping in the Designer Mall...yeah, I know what you are thinking, the shoppers chose to eat rather than shop, say what!! haha...when you are in a group you go with the majority plus the restaurant came highly recommended so we didn't mind......also note, when you book a private tour like this you have options...we chose as a group (as all of us in the van were together) how long we wanted to stay at the beaches and when given choices what we would do..

this is just a snapshot review, a more thorough review will come later...

a few pictures up next...

Thank you so much for your reviews. They have been great! You have helped me so much with my planning and what to do on the Allure. Your pics have been great too! If you have any other advice or suggestions that would be helpful please post because this is my first RC cruise. Again, thank you!

Ran across some wonderful pics of a

Promenade Cabin with a view

of the Royal Promenade

I didn't know they have 2 couches in them...

one by the window, so you can watch

the parades (or people watch...;)) and

one by the closets, as in this cabin...

I understand there are also some of these cabins that

have the bed by the closet so the second couch

would be near the window

as in the view in post #207

on this thread

the windows look out to the

Royal Promenade

and yes that is a towel animal! LOL

web.jpg

the door to the left is the

door to the bathroom

And a view of the Royal Promenade from the cabin window ...
