XLRATION Posted August 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2011 Can someone who has sailed Explorer with a balcony cabin on deck 6 please give me a quick bit of info. I would like to know if the life boats impede the view from the balcony or cause any other sort of problems or alterations to the balcony compared to those on higher decks? Cheers, Brett

Cheers, Brett We've been on deck six on the Explorer twice and will be there again in December. We are starboard on the hump (our usual). The life boats are well tucked in on deck five and do not obstruct the view. teddie
phoenix1181 Posted August 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2011 We've been on Explorer several times, always on deck 6, & the lifeboats do not obstruct your view. The balconies on 6 have a steel bottom, not plexiglass, which seems to bother some people, but we have no issues with it.
DonnaK Posted August 19, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2011 All the balcony fronts on Explorer have steel bottoms. On deck 6, the steel comes up higher than on the other decks and is topped by a railing. On the higher decks, the balcony fronts have steel about 2/3 as high and it's topped with 1/3 plexiglass so you have a tad larger view looking out - this is especially noticeable when seated on the balcony because it's harder to see over the top of the steel. How'sBartCruisin'? Posted August 20, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2011 We had 6622 in July and booked the exact same room for next August. Right in the middle by the elevators and on the hump and the view was fine by us!!! You'll love it.
