passportready Posted August 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2011 We are looking at the Le Boreal March of 2012 ----Guayaquil to Caracus--with the port of La Guaira. Disembark there. Does anyone have an opinion on the safety of driving from the port to the airport? It says in the advisory it is dangerous but realistically speaking who has been there recently and can comment. I dont want to be foolhardy but I would like to make that trip on that ship. We also have thought of disembarking in Curacau the day before and flying home after visiting there a day or two. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
tvmovielover Posted August 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2011 The city of Caracas is half an hour or so up into the mountains. The Port of La Guaira is on the coast relatively close to Maiquetia Airport. Does the advisory say taxis from the port to the airport are not safe? We lived there long ago and our friends that still have ties there say the city is not safe (OTOH, one couple has continued to live where they always did with little problem) but you would not be touring anyway. Curacao is a very nice place to visit for a day or so with lots of flights to the US if you are concerned about safety in Venezuela (We lived there after Venezuela) but what are other passengers doing at the end of the trip and/or would the cruise company provide you all with safe passage to the airport?
