We did the Road to Mandalay this February. We did a 7 day cruise and would suggest that you only do a 4 day one. We got stuck on a sandbar on the way back up to Mandalay (the town) and had to be evacuated from the ship with one hours notice. wE had a 1 1/2 hour boat ride and then a 2 hour bus ride to Mandalay where they put us up in a hotel for two nights. Orietn Express did their best but it was not the best way for the cruise to end.

The hotel was 4 star and not too bad.

The ship is very nice...if you do it get the bigger room as the other rooms are very small.

The food was safe to eat..flown in from Australia.

We stayed two nights at the STrand in Yangoon and it was just wonderful.

I would be happy to answer any guestions. It was a fascinating trip. Mynamar is so unspoiled.
