Victoria - How to come home & where to stay?

Recommended Posts

Other than the Empress, is there a nice Hotel on the waterfront in Victoria?

Also, what is the best way to return home? We live in Portland Oregon and found that renting a car out of the country and trying to drop it off in the U.S., the price was expensive. We would like to rent a car in Washington State instead. To get back to the US, Should we take a ferry? Or go back to Vancouver and take a train? Any suggestions? We are concerned about schlepping our luggage all over. Thank you for any advice.

Hotels on the waterfront, you have several options:

The Inn at Laural Point

Coast Victoria Harbourside

Delta Victoria Ocean Point (on the other side of the Inner Harbour)

Victoria Regent

Harbour Towers (not on the water but some great water views)

Days Inn on the Harbour

For getting back to the US you may care to check on the Victoria Clipper which is a big favourite of both Victoria and Seattle folks. http://www.clippervacations.com/ferry/

Putter's given you the hit list for hotels. There are a few more that are only a couple of blocks from the water; the Executive House; the new Marriot and the Chateau Victoria.

As for getting home, you can take the clipper, or if you want to drive, walk onto the Coho http://cohoferry.com/ and then rent a car from Port Angeles (Hwy 101 is a nice drive too).

Another option is Horizon Air from YYJ/Victoria (via SEA), or even taking Kenmore Air from YWH/Victoria Harbour to Seattle's LKE/Lake Union
