Just wanted to know if anyone has sailed the Freedom and the Valor, and if you had a choice which would you choose. They have the same itinerary, one leaves from Ft Lauderdale, the other from Miami. The Valor is cheaper, so wondering which ship is better, or is the Freedom worth a little extra. I posted this same question yesterday, but got no responses. Hoping someone will respond. jThanks in advance.

The ships are identical in layout with the Freedom being newer than the Valor. I don't let the decor influence me, but I do think that the Valor is not as flashy as the Freedom, much more refined decor.

I would choose the Valor since it's cheaper and it's cheaper to fly into FLL. The pier is only a few blocks from the airport so cab fare would be cheaper too.

Laceydog....

I have been on the Freedom and will be going again in March. Valor and Freedom are 'sister' ships. I do know that Freedom has the Adult Only Serenity area but I'm not sure if Valor does. That could be the reason Valor is less.

Port of Miami uses kiosks to speed up check-in where Port Everglades does not have the kiosks. Parking at Everglades is $15/day while Miami is $20/day. If you're flying... need to factor that also. This year, we sailed out of Miami but flew in and out of FLL due to cheaper flights. Used SAS transport to get us from FLL to Port of Miami. Your situation may or may not be similar.

Whichever you choose, enjoy your cruise!!

I should also say that I love both ships. They are Conquest class ships and are my favorite style of ship. The casino's are just the right size. I love the live entertainment on the casino stage in the evenings. Both have Steakhouses which is an excellent value for the $30 upcharge.

We cruised Valor this past may and really liked it. I really thought the ship was great, and just so you know it does have the adults only "serenity area"....... it got as an upgrade in Dry Dock I think in February. I think you can't go wrong with either ship. My review of Valor is linked in my signature below so if you want a somewhat current review..... have at it. Whatever cruise you decide on, enjoy to the fullest.:D

Yes I agree that it is much cheaper to fly into FLL, so if picking the Valor I'd suggest using ridesas.com to get to the port in Miami.

The Valor sails out of the Port of Miami (on everything I can find). When did they move the Port of Miami so it's next to the Ft. Lauderdale airport?

Lacelady,

I am afraid I am not going to be much of help, I have not had any personal experience with either of the ship. However, I have heard that Valor does not have the friendliest crew - I hope it helps somewhat.

 I hope not...We have been on the Freedom and loved it, picked Valor this time because different itinerary and its basically a "sister ship"

We sailed on the Valor several years ago. We loved it, had a great time. No, it didn't have the Serenity deck. I didn't even know what that was, so it was fine. Miami port was great, we went a day early and explored south beach.

Haven't sailed on the Freedom yet, will do that in Feb. Since it's the same class of ship, I expect it to be comparable, except Freedom is newer. Looking forward to the Ft. Lauderdale port, since we've never been there. We always go a day or two early, that way the sailaway port is another adventure. I always look for the best deal, so if the difference is just price, I'd go with the Valor.

Twibbs, you made me laugh when you said"since when is the port of Miami close to Fort Lauderdale airport? That was funny. BUT....it cost the same on a shuttle from Fort Lauderdale to the Miami cruiseport for your information. The shuttles will take you to Miami if you fly into FLL airport. So it is a great deal.

I didn't like the decorations on the Buffet area on the walls with lots of painted EYES starring at me.lol. on the Valor ship. It is an old ship.

I prefer new ships.
