wolfganghowell Posted September 22, 2011 #26 Share Posted September 22, 2011 We have done it 3 times through Island Marketing. The Grand Caymanian is a bit of a drive and not on 7 Mile Beach. The resort is nice, not fancy, but nice. They make good frozen drinks! Each time we've been there we were the only ones at the pool. Go figure. Waverunners are easy to operate but are powerful. And the faster you go the smoother the ride. So only you know your comfort level as far as operating machinery or having any kids operate them. The waverunners have watertight compartments for anything you might need to take with you at Rum Point. Best to take cash if you want drinks or snacks - your change will be in Caymanian money. tkt0912 Posted September 27, 2011 #27 Share Posted September 27, 2011 Just got home from yet another amazing excursion with Fat Fish. Last week, due to the low in tourism right now, we got to do more than normal. They were only running two tours a day, instead of the normal 3 a day. We did the mangroves (which is just a way of getting out to Stinray City, not an actual place to sit around or visit), Starfish Island, Stingray City, Snorkeling at the Reef AND Rum Point. Just be careful at Rum Point, as the prices in the Cayman's are VERY HIGH !!!!! The prices on the menu are in CI. Once converted to US dollars, you are paying $1.80 for every $1 in CI. For example, we got two appetizers. One basket of conch fritters (4 fritters), one small basket of fried Calamari, one fruity drink and one mudslide...... $50 !!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, just a heads up. Overall, Fat Fish is fantastic !!!! As far as the pace or speed, the wave runners actually ride and steer much easier when on a plane, and the faster you go, the better. PLUS, the faster you go, the more time you have at each place. This was our fourth tour with them and it was just as much fun as the first time. Just my two cents. Hope this helps one way or the other and I hope you have a great time either way !!!!!
