to those that rented a car - questions?

We are considering renting a van/car while in Grand Caymen because we are 3 families of 7, 4, and 6 (so 3 rentals). It seems it is cheaper than taxis but I am in the process of requesting a price from Cayman Auto Rentals. Does anyone remember the total price for a 7 passenger?

Also, if we rent a van, we will have the freedom to explore but I am not sure where to go. We want to go to Reef Grill on 7 mile beach but not sure what else. How far out is the Botanical Gardens? What would be of interest to kids ages 10-17?

Compare prices with some of the other rental places...there's outlets of most of the major chains plus Andy's (local - http://www.andys.ky/ ). Most have prices or a reservation tool on their websites. Most are at the airport, but Andy's also has a location along Seven Mile Beach. They'll all have the same add-on fees like insurance and temporary driver permit, so check to see if those fees are included or on top of the rate shown.

The botanical gardens are in the other direction from Reef Grill, but are really nice if you're interested in plants and iguanas. Also in that direction is the Pedro St James historical site. Info on both those locations is here - http://www.tab.ky/

If you're renting a car, you might want to head to Rum Point instead of Royal Palms (Reef Grill). It's in the same direction as the gardens, and is very nice...lots of threads here about it.

The pirate caves that you'll pass on the way there may be a little cheesy for the older members of your group, possibly even for the 10 yr old...they're very, very cheesy. :D

Two Honda Civic's and one Expedition for a total of about $307.00 including insurance, taxes, licenses and insurance should fit your group. Now to find 3 drivers willing to do the wrong side of the road:eek:.
