Sauer-kraut Posted September 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2011 Hook up with a private tour, see the lakes, have lunch in a restaurant that has cooked a traditional Azorean meal in the geothermal holes in Furnas, tea plantation, swim in the 'copper pool' and visit the botanical gardens, pineapple plantation, sete ciadaes (spelling), do your homework and figure out what you want to visit and then find a tour that will accommodate you. joanne1919 Posted September 7, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2011 Any suggestions on what to do for the day while at the Azores? In May we used Azores Tours for a wonderful day out of Porto Delgado on our TA cruise. Pedro met us with a beautifully clean vehicle and gave us a marvelous day from Sete Cidades (the 2 lakes in the volcano) to the other end of the island and the hot waterfall. The island was wonderfully lush with great views over mountains and seashore. Pedro was very informative and accomodating. I forget how much it cost but his vehicle held 7 and we went out for 5 hours (whixh included the walk up to the waterfall) and thought we had a bargain (much less than the ship tour and saw much more). Barbie075 Posted September 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2011 If you know what you want to see you can go into town and get a taxi at the town square to take you anywhere you want to go with an hourly rate or about 30 Euro per hour for four people.
