Cash or charge?

Depends on what your buying. It's not much different from the states. You're not gonna wanna carry around $2000 in cash to buy a diamond necklace and your cab driver won't accept credit cards. Common sense will dictate what type and how much $$ to carry. I don't think you will have a problem with traveller's checks in most stores but I would just stick with cash and plastic if possible. A lot of tour operators are not set up for credit cards so a decent amount of cash is advisable if you are planning to book a tour off the ship.

If you are planning on taking a bus or cab, it may be a good idea to have some smaller bills, as most won't make change. :)

We booked with Captain Marvin and paid with cash. Took a tour off of the Pier, and paid with cash also. As far as shopping, you should be okay using Credit cards.
