dixie54 Posted September 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2011 We have cruised RCCL Voyager of the Seas several times. Since Carnival is year around thought we would give them a try. Does the Conquest have a cafe kind of like the Cafe Promenade on rccl? Any tips on traveling on the Conquest? Thanks for any information!!
DarthGrady Posted September 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2011 Try the Steakhouse at least one night. Its well worth the $30 IMO. Edit: Sorry, missed the first part of your post. No, she does not have a stand alone cafe like on RCI. The buffet area has several different stations though. She will definitely have a deli station which has some very decent sandwiches. There is also a Fish and Chips counter upstairs in the buffet. I have not been on Conquest, but I have seen burrito bars and Mongolian grills on some of her sister ships. She does have a stand alone sushi bar on the Promenade.

Does the Conquest have a cafe kind of like the Cafe Promenade on rccl? Any tips on traveling on the Conquest? Thanks for any information!! Nothing exactly like Cafe Promenade, but there is 24 hour pizza like in Sorrentos AND the ice cream machines are always on, unlike RCCL. I am sure you will be pleased with the Conquest. It is certainly different that the Voyager or Freedom classes on RCCL, but we had a great time on our last Conquest Cruise and looking forward our next one in about 11 days! FloridaGators Posted September 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2011 We have been on Voyager twice and I think you will love the Conquest! Conquest doesn't have the Cafe Promenade, however there is a coffee shop with the fancy coffee that you pay for and ice cream, etc. As others have said, the free sandwiches are at the deli station at the back of Lido Deck. dixie54 Posted September 7, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted September 7, 2011 Thank you. Also I have heard that it can get kind of confusing, because not all of the decks go the length of the ship etc. Wondering if the promenade deck goes from front to back? Any place to get a cup of free coffee on the promenade? Thanks
DarthGrady Posted September 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Thank you. Also I have heard that it can get kind of confusing, because not all of the decks go the length of the ship etc. Wondering if the promenade deck goes from front to back? Any place to get a cup of free coffee on the promenade? Thanks The only deck that can't be walked front to back is Deck 3. Carnival uses a two dining room (forward/aft) setup with the galley in the middle, so it cuts that deck in two. You can walk front to back on all the other decks, although you will have cut through the upper level of the forward dining room on Deck 4. It sounds more confusing than it is, if you review the deck plans before you go you will do fine. The Promenade does indeed traverse the entire length of the ship. That deck is where you will find the night clubs, casino, sushi bar and other entertainment venues. Although it does not have the grandness of scale that the Royal Promenade does on RCI, it is nice to walk along it and have full sized windows looking out onto the sea. Unfortunately I don't think there is a free coffee venue on the Promenade. There is a Starbucks style place with fancy coffees and pastries, but its pay extra. Txcruisemomma Posted December 3, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 3, 2012 If you're looking for plain roasted coffee, not Starbucks style, it's free at all times on the ship. Then there's the Starbucks style cafe which we loved as well! Enjoy. I've been on Conquest twice and loved it. cruiseclues Posted December 4, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 4, 2012 There is now a Cafe Fans midship on the Carnival Conquest Promenade deck. Note the Drydock was 10/2012 and a number of upgrades (2.0 ones) have occurred. :) Whether it actually has Starbucks or some other brand, I'm guessing, from my conversations with Carnival Yesterday, that ALL Ships do have a Cafe that you pay for drinks and food...and as in all cruise ships, you have free coffee available in the Lido, your Cabin room service, and possibly a few other places onboard. Again, look at what the Promenade Coffee Bar and Cafe LINKS says when you click it on them in this Website page of Carnival's (in the middle left link, and in the lower link (for the MENU) Goccl Carnival Cruise Line Cruise Ships Dining Onboard Extensive Carnival Conquest Dining Information, All CCL Cruise Ships
cruisinbanddirectors Posted December 5, 2012 #12 Share Posted December 5, 2012 I havent been in the Conquest yet (but will be in less than 20 days :D ). However I have been on other Conquest class ships. No Carnival ship that I know of has anything exactly like the Promenade Cafe. As mentioned, there is free pizza all day and night, but nothing quite like the PC on RCCL. I will say based on our one cruise on RCCL that we like Carnival food better. However, we do wish CCL had something more like the Promenade Cafe...probably our favorite food feature on our RCCL cruise.
cruiseclues Posted December 5, 2012 #13 Share Posted December 5, 2012 We liked the Cafe Promenade on the Explorer of the Seas (great sandwiches, and good pizza), and Johnny Rockets, though the rest of the food we had on the remainder of the ship was average or below. We like the food on Carnival, also. :) When we went on the Enchantment of the Seas out of Baltimore, Oct 26, during Hurricane Sandy, we expected about the same level of food we had on the Explorer of the Seas. The Main Dining Room, My Fair Lady, had food that was truly Outstanding, some of the best we've had, possibly due to the new Royal Caribbean menu...and maybe better chefs. :) Note that Carnival Conquest NOW has the BlueIguana Cantina, Guy's Burger Joint, and the Alchemy Bar, just voted by Cruise Critic Editors Picks as the Best Cruise Ship Bar for 2012.
