Theford Grey or Royston?

I'm wondering if anyone has gotten an email from Royston like this before. I've read such good things about his tour, but was a little taken aback by the email response I got from him when I inquired about taking a tour from him. Has anyone had a similar experience? I don't want to slander someone's reputation, but I also don't know if anyone would find this cause for concern...

"I would like to take you but its not a good day for me. I had some dreams from god that led me to using the old biblical lunisolar calendar for the sabbath day and it falls on that day so I don't want to work.

Jesus also told me he is coming soon and to tell people. so hope to see you in heaven."

No, never. When I visited a second time and inquired with him about a different tour, he simply replied that he couldn't do it, but gave me his number and said I could call if I needed help with anything else while there.

Yes, I had the same response from him, I checked my emails and his reply was in September 2012 for our March 2013 trip. I booked with someone else. He follows a very different calendar than ours.

That's odd. I wonder if he was hacked. I was in St. Kitts for the second time in July this year and I wrote him either late last year or early this year and didn't get that response.

I just had a poor experience with Royston. I booked his tour back in October for our upcoming cruise in January and yesterday 4 days before we leave received an email from him saying he could not honor our reservation because he just realized that his tour for the time our ship arrives is full and he had us slotted in an earlier tour.

All I know is we had a good time with Royston in an open air van which was great for taking pictures. He stopped along the road where a man was holding a small monkey enabling us to take pictures. He paid our admissions, stopped at a roadside market and bought us cookies, drove on a beach where horses were enjoying the surf, he stopped and picked some sugar cane and fed donkeys out of his window, we stopped at a beach with a beachside snack bar and he bought us lunch which was a wrap like sandwich filled with meat. All enjoyed our lunch and ocean view. Overall, both my husband and myself saw a lot more and enjoyed ourselves more than we would have seen on any tour we've taken.

We just toured with Royston on Dec 27th and this describes the tour exactly. There was just the 4 of us in his van as another couple did not show. It was one of our best tours. I know he did have another group that went with another driver and although we didn't follow each other, we did see them at all the stops. I would definitely book with him again.

That would be his cousin Ashton. I loved the tour.

It's not so much the calendar part, as the receiving messages from Jesus and seeing us in heaven part that made me wary.

I realize America has become so PC, it's ridiculous. I'm a believer, but I think the response is odd. It just doesn't seem like a legit response, but I could be wrong.

But if I received a response like that it would make me think even if he were available, my tour would be filled with him "force feeding" Jesus to me.

We toured with Royston last week and that so doesn't sound like him! We had a wonderful day, shared with only one other couple from the Celebrity Summit with us.

At the end of the tour, I told him he could definitely charge more! I don't think he is interested in working too hard, tho, and only works when he chooses.

That's true, it doesn't sound like Royston...I think he could have been hacked...I received a weird email from Bernard of Bernard's Tours.

  • 2 weeks later...

We were in St. Kitts last week on board Celebrity Summit. We booked an excursion with Royston Tours and had Ashton as our driver. It was fabulous! We were a family group of 8 adults and had such a good time and learned so much about the island. We highly recommend this tour and hope to return and use them again.

We were with Ashton - of Royston Tours-as well last week on 1/7 and had a fantastic tour. Ashton is a very personable and is honest with his views and makes the tour as interactive as possible. You will have a great time with either Royston or Ashton.

Yes, I was in touch with him by email in the past 2 weeks. Try him again- he might be very busy since season has just started again.

Just wondering if Mr. Grey would ask for a deposit in advance as part of the tour reservation? i don't feel comfortable giving out my credit card details.

Is it possible to pay cash prior to the tour?

We are booked with Thenford Grey for our May 2014 visit. It was all done via email - no deposit necessary. The emails state payment in cash the day of the tour. Hope that helps!

Lisa -

Do you have the email address you used to contact Royston? I used roystontours@hotmail.com and received the same strange message as someone else -

"thats not a good day for me. I had some dreams from god that led me to using the old biblical lunisolar calendar for the sabbath day and it falls on that day so I don't want to work.

very sorry

Royston"

I have tried contacting him again via email and so far nothing. Was he prompt in getting back to you? How did you contact him and set up the tour?

Thanks for any help

Cindy

My husband is a avid photographer and loves to take lots of pictures while we are on vacation. Which tour offers the most in picture stops? Theford Gray or Royston? Any help would be appreciated.

I was just with Thenford on 1/14 while on the Celebrity Equinox. I would only use him in St. Kitts. We toured with him in 1/12 and I had arranged a group of 40 for his St. Kitts tour. He was wonderful then so I contacted him to arrange a private tour for DH and I of Nevis from St. Kitts a few months in advance of our visit. He remembered me well. We arranged to meet Thenford at 7:30 AM (our ship docked at 7) to catch the 8AM ferry to Nevis (had to be back onboard at 2:30 for a 3PM departure from St. Kitts). Well, right before disembarking at 7:15AM we were stopped at the gangway to wait for a RCL ship to dock (safety reasons). We waited till 7:50AM before we were cleared to go ashore. We figured we would miss the ferry and the next one was not until 9:30AM which would mean less than 3 hours on Nevis. We were very upset. Thenford was waiting for us, explained that the 8AM ferry did not run that day but drove us to the ferry terminal 4 blocks away where he arranged for us to get on a commercial ferry departing for Nevis at 8:30AM. He bought the tickets, contacted the guide on Nevis, arranged for his colleague to escort us on the ferry and told us he would be waiting for us upon our return from Nevis at 1:45PM. We arrived on Nevis at 9:10AM and our wonderful guide was waiting for us. Thenford called to be sure we arrived safely. At the end of the tour she bought our ferry tickets for the return and escorted us onto the ferry then called Thenford to tell him we were on the way. Sure enough, when we arrived back at the ferry terminal on St. Kitts, Thenford was waiting for us and drove us back to the ship. He had left his group on the beach to do this and returned to them once we were back at the pier. This time we paid him in advance since he needed us to deliver funds to the Nevis guide but I had no hesitation paying for this in advance since I knew and trusted him. He did not disappoint and is truly a professional, honorable and lovely man. I recommend him highly. I hope this helps anyone that may be unsure of what to do or whom to tour with in St. Kitts to make an informed decision.

I received the same email from him last week after emailing him about a tour for Dec 2014.

Luni-solar calendar (LSC) is based on each lunation or month, beginning at dawn following the moon's conjunction with the sun. The first day of each month is called New Moon Day and is observed by abstaining from common labor and in worshipful consecration of oneself to Yahuwah, the Creator. Each month consists of either 29 or 30 days. In the 30 day months, the last Sabbath is followed bytranslation day, then New Moon Day, both of which are not counted as part of any week. Four complete weeks of seven days follows: six days of work, then the Sabbath which always occurs on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of the LSC months.

I was able to book with Royston. I guess this means he will be working on that day as it does not fall on New Moon Day or any of the Sabbath days that occur every 7th day after New Moon Day. If you attempted to book him on a day of a new moon or any week of the new moon, he will not be working. This is my interpretation of his responses.
