Our cruise ship offers this excursion from Savona Italy, thoughts? I always wanted to go to Monte Carlo and they have a tour that goes there and you spend a few hours there. Here is a description of the $99 tour. The rest of our group is going to Portofino.

Discover the pleasures of famous Monaco and Monte Carlo on this wonderful full day tour.

[*]Depart by motor coach and drive for 2 hours along the panoramic highway of the Western Riviera to the base of the famous Rock of Monaco.

[*]Proceed to its top via escalators and enjoy a brief orientation of the area, passing by the Prince’s Palace and the Cathedral where the Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly is laid to rest.

[*]Enjoy free time before driving to Monte Carlo, along the Grand Prix Circuit.

[*]Upon arrival at Casino Square, you will have 2 hours free time to explore the beautiful area before returning to Savona..

Hi,

I'm on the Costa Concordia next week and on Monday I will be on their version of this excursion, from Savona to Monte Carlo. It's the only one we have booked with the cruise line all week.

Really looking forward to it. I'll do a review when I get back online, probably 4 Oct if that's not too late for you.

hey, it sounds fair enough. it is a trek from Savona to portofino and also to monaco...

i guess overall savona is a stupid place to stop. it must be a cheap port...

boats stop at genova closer to portofino and monaco for monaco...

monaco is very small and you will see all of the interesting parts on your tour. monaco old town and monte carlo. monaco is smaller then central park...

just for clarity monaco is the country and which has monaco ville and monte carlo as neighbourhoods ....

Hi,

I'll be on the same cruise and booked the same excursion. My mom and I can't wait to see Monaco and Monte Carlo. I've done a lot of research on shore excursions and couldn't find a decent one for less than the one offered by Carnival. I've shopped for the best deals and can't believe how much tours cost.

Anyone interested in sharing the cost of private tours to Naples and/or Messina? I'm in the middle of booking tours with different companies depending on their final rate. See below for the proposed schedule from both ports. My mom and I are a lot of fun and easy going. I'm in my 40s and we're both very low maintenance. You'll understand more when you read the below. If anyone is interested, please send an email to cherubela@yahoo.com

I will also check back on Cruise Critic. First time user so I'm not sure how to check back.

NAPLES (1):

My mom can't walk long distances so most of the tour will be just driving around. My mom can walk and climb steps if she has to but I will be pushing my mom in a lightweight transport wheelchair. My mom is easy going and would rather see most sites from the vehicle. Is it possible to book a tour with you to drive along the coast for maybe 2 or 2 1/2 hours stopping a few times here and there but not for too long and then go to Sorrento so we can catch the hydrofoil to Capri? Capri is really important to my mom and I think there will be less people trying to get on the hydrofoil from Sorrento.

So what do you think of this itinerary?

- pick us up at Naples between 7:00am-7:30am (we dock at 7:00am/ I don't know how long it takes to get off the ship/ I figure we will be on the ground by 7:30am???)

- drive along the coast for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours

- get to Sorrento to take the hydrofoil after 9:30am

-We would leave Capri between 2:30pm-3:30pm

If possible, have your driver pick us up at Sorrento and drive us back to Naples?? Depending on your cost and if easier for your company, my mom and I can take the hydrofoil directly to Naples. Can you give a price with both options?

NAPLES (2) I already received a quote but would like to find someone to share this excursion. You do not have to go on the boat tour at Capri. If interested I'll confirm the price with the tour company since most private tours can include up to 4 people in a car or minivan.

RESPONSE from tour company:

Buongiorno from The amalfcoast!!!!

Thanks for waiting ,yes of course I can provide the service escaping pompeii ; we will drive to trhe scenic road of the amalficoast and then Capri

Itinerary sound perfect I will do in this way :

  • pick us up at Naples between 7:00 and 7:30am (we dock at 7:00am exit probably 7:45
  • drive along the coast for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours
  • get to Sorrento by or before 9:30am to take the hydrofoil at 9:45am or 11:45
  • reach Capri and get on island
  • do boat tour and eat something (4-5 hours on Capri)
  • leave Capri depending on boat tour after 4:00pm

price will be 640 euro; your guide will be the entire day with you ; the boat tour we use a company that has all the permit and they have on board all you need for snorkeling

Private local boat fully insured with all the equipment on board and ensurance they asking 160 euro. I can get that for 150 euro 2 .5 to 3 hours ;

MESSINA:

**Same info regarding me & my mom above.**

Possible itinerary:

Pick us up at port, drive around 3-4 hours (maybe 5), stopping a few times here and there at sites suggested by tour company. Eat somewhere. Requested to see a church and the "Godfather" area if possible. No museums. Takes up too much time. Get to port in time to ship which departs at 4:00pm.

If anyone is interested, please send an email to cherubela@yahoo.com

I will also check back on Cruise Critic. First time user so I'm not sure how to check back.
