cleo656 Posted September 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2011 Just found out that the marathon is the same day we are leaving on the Splendor. My sister will be dropping us off at the ship (coming from Mission Viejo) and on the map for the course it goes to the Queen Mary (the first part of the marathon). Any suggesstions on the time to be dropped off so that we don't have to get into the congestion of the marathon? Thanks.
Rare PatriciaF Posted September 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2011 I looked at the Marathon website and I think if you arrive after 12 NOON, using the Long Beach 710 Freeway rather than city streets through downtown, you should miss most of the activity. http://runlongbeach.com/about/
sassyredhat Posted September 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2011 OMgosh we got trapped in that. They block off the streets, making them 1 way. I think we arrived about 11am and it was a zoo most of the day. Personally, we will be staying and parking at the Hotel Maya in the future. They have a shuttle to the ship. Pat In another post, some one was wondering why they were having such a hard time getting a hotel in downtown. Hotel Maya was SOLD out. Hilton still had some Carnival rates available that weekend. Incrediboll Posted September 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks for the post. We are having my MIL drive us up from San Diego. This could have been a very bad drive up there if we didn't know about this ahead of time.
