Freedom of the Seas Western Caribbean 9-4-2011

Just back from a Western Caribbean on Freedom. Beautiful Ship + beautiful weather = super vacation! Food was very good (Chops was outstanding!) and crew was also good although our suite attendant was not as good as most I've seen.

Will try to answer any questions you may have. Not doing a full review because Freedom has been reviewed so well recently.

We stayed in aft JS 7414 and I know some have questions about the view being "restricted" ... yes, there is a super structure and yes, you can see down into the RFS on deck 6 plus a bit of the crew area on deck 5. It did not bother me one bit! We had no soot problem and there were two loungers, 2 chairs and a large table on the balcony. Ship motion was not bad and the vibrations soothed me to sleep each night. The closet was not a "walk-in" size like past JS we've had but was more than adequate for two. Here are a few pics of the cabin and view aft ... you decide. And one of the beautiful Freedom.

Oh, the walk back to the aft cabins is a hike! Don't do it from the forward elevators as it seems like it takes forever through the halls. But we liked it enough to get 1394 on Explorer next year out of Bayonne on a 9-day. :D

Glad to hear you had a great time.

We leave in 21 more days. Did you by any chance keep your compasses?

I'm sorry. For the first time we did not keep the compasses. I might be able to remember something if you have a specific question.

Quick question: how much smaller is the closet than the other JS's? You mentioned it is not a walk in.

The closet was deep enough to comfortably hang clothing (maybe 3 feet deep and 7-9 feet long). It was not as deep as other JS we have stayed in (we could actually walk into those -- this one was bigger than an ocean view closet). There was a set of shelves on the hall side of the closet. We were able to put 2 suitcases in on the suite side with no problem and we had both formal and informal clothing with us. I had the impression, without actually measuring, that the suite was a little more narrow than side JS's. It was still plenty big enough for two people (easy to walk around without bumping into the bed or table).

Hope that helps.
