flgatormom29 Posted September 24, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2011 We are leaving next week (YAY!!!!!), and i'm getting married onboard while docked at Key West. My reception is only until 330 and we were wondering what was open on port days so that after the "formal" reception is over we could tell our guests to head there to continue the fun until dinner.... My ceremony is in the Lounge there and our reception will be in the 70s disco, is that usually open for people to hang out in during the day? Or the conference room? Or piano bar? Lounges? What exactly is left open (and maybe kinda quiet) to hang out in? If it helps, we are going to be on the freedom. Thanks!!!! :D
ccruisequeen Posted September 24, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2011 Nothing is really "open for business" on Port days, except the Pool, gym, spa, etc. Bars are open, but nothing is served. Lido deck is open for fuel. I usually use port days to take photos around the ship, as there is no one to block my shot!
jaded99 Posted September 24, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2011 Bars are open, but nothing is served. I don't think this is true, unless my last cruise was the exception... we ordered drinks from lido waiters and from the atrium bar when we were in port. We just had to pay the local tax on them. Thanks!!!! :D are all the guests sailing with you? if not after the reception they are escorted off the ship. "everything" will be opened except the stores and casino. How about gathering to watch the sail away (under the awesome sunset)
ccruisequeen Posted September 24, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2011 None of the lounges I've been in have served, except Lido deck; they set up, but don't serve drinks. I usually sit in a window seat & just watch what's going on; maybe none of my fellow sailers are mid-day drinkers:rolleyes:
JRock59 Posted September 24, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2011 We've stayed on the ship in many ports. Lido deck bar will be open but there may be no bar waiters around until about an hour before sail time. Also they usually play music videos on the big screen. If it's a nice day and not to hot just head up to Lido and have your own party! I'm sure the bar tender will be happy to have ya'll there. :) You may also find the Casino bar open and the Atrium Bar, this could be a fun place to hang out and have fun too. Actually several bars are open, most if not all of the outside bars, the atrium bar, sometimes the casino bar (if it's the only smoking bar). The 'lounge' bars, i.e. disco, aren't open during the day even on sea days.
flgatormom29 Posted September 24, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted September 24, 2011 All of my guests are sailing but 1. So she will have to leave at 4, but we want to continue to hang out until dinner at 6. I'm not too worried about getting served alcohol, we just want a place to hang out and socialize. If they serve alcohol, great, if not that's ok too. We will be drinking the entire reception. So the disco will stay open, Just not have any staff in it? But we could still stay in there and hang out?
