Harbie Posted October 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Going on the Victory in January and I would love to Swim with the turtles. Anyone have recomendations for tours on this? We are going with a group of six and would rather not be on a tour that is crowded...Prefer more laid back relaxing day. :)

tada Posted October 6, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2011 We did a day on the Silvermoon Catamaran. http://silvermoonbarbados.com/ They take a small group out - 12 people, provide transportation, food and unlimited drinks, lots of chances to snorkel and equipment, and a chance to swim with the turtles. Probably the best snorkeling I have ever done. No wearing flippers around the turtles though. Check them out.
scraphappylady Posted October 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2011 I also second the recommendation for the 12-person Silver Moon excursion. It's a bit pricier than the 24-person one, but so much nicer with fewer people! More room to spread out on the catamaran and no pushing/shoving lots of other people out of the way to see the turtles. Feel free to check out the turtle pix in my review to get a taste of what you will encounter. Truly breathtaking to see them up that close and personal! serene56 Posted October 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2011 We used GloryTours for our swim. It was truly amazing experience
cra-z-2cruise Posted October 6, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Have used both Calabaza and Silvermoon. Both companies only take small groups and we had a great time on both. However, our experience with calabaza was simply amazing. Pampered from the moment we stepped on board their beautiful cat and made to feel right at home. The food was hands down superior on this trip. Gina makes all of the dishes daily from scratch.
smilz Posted October 6, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 6, 2011 We took several tours until we realized the last time that we were pretty close to the beach. We took a cab to the beach (sorry but I can't recall the name right now but you can search the Barbados board) and swam out to the boats. I am an overweight 50+ woman and was able to make the swim easily. I did have a snorkel vest on. The turtles were great and as the catamarans left the area, we were enjoying the turtles with the other swimmers. They are very gentil and will allow you to stroke their shells.Make sure you do it in the morning as the jet skis get a little overwhelming in the afternoon. Whatever you do, you will love the experience! Enjoy!!!
bplazo Posted October 6, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2011 As others have said, Silver Moon was one of our favorite excursions.
excitedcruzr Posted October 6, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2011 I heard all good things about Calabaza, so I decided to book it for January. They only take 12 people on their catamaran. Roughly $110 per person for 5 hours, and all kinds of food/drinks. We do two snorkel stops, one at the turtles and one at a reef and/or wreck. There are a couple of spots where one is more or less guaranteed to see the turtles and it does tend to get crowded, as of course other boats go to see the turtles as well, we do try to avoid the crowds whenever we can, but sometimes it is unavoidable. -An email from Gina when I inquired about the tour.
