Flying from Quito to Cusco

We plan to add on a trip to Machu Picchu after our Galapagos cruise. Our cruise package ends up in Quito and we plan to fly into Cusco the next day. We have two options on flights -- one that gets in Cusco at 12:30pm and one that gets in at 2pm. I have read that flights into Cusco often get fogged in. Anyone have experience with this?

If it was my trip, I would fly Quito to Lima, spend the night, then leave EARLY in the morning for Cusco.

ANY flight leaving Lima to Cusco after about 10AM has the chance of being turned around and heading back to Lima because you can't land. So why stress yourself out??? Just spend the night in Lima, take a 7 or 8AM flight and enjoy your evening.
