Mini Train from Toulon Port to Town

We were diverted on Celebrity Solstice in November 2011 from Marseille to Toulon at the last minute and if we wanted to go in to the Centre, had no choice but to pay $16 to get in to Town if we wanted to visit. We chose not to go on the shuttle bus but to walk around the port - purely for the fresh air and the weather wasn't so great. Just outside the gates where the ship is docked is the stop for the "Mini Train" that takes Adults for 4.20 euros and children for 3.50 euros in to the centre of town that the same shuttle bus through the cruise line charges $16 each for!

As we were there at the very last minute due to bad weather, I had no idea what Toulon had to offer but for those that are searching for things in advance, there is also this far cheaper option for you. Just walk off the ship, go to the gates and through the other side is a big information board about the service, the cost and when it runs.

Was on Celebrity Solstice too. As previous poster said, we were supposed to dock in Marseille but due to bad weather, had to dock in Toulon.

When we got out, there is an information booth in there. Actually, we were not docked in Toulon itself. We were docked in La Seyne Sur Mer. That is the reason why the ship's shuttle costs so much $16 per person roundtrip as they said that the ride would take 20 - 30 minutes depending on traffic.

If you just go out and go to the entrance, there is a mini-train in there, that will take you near the shops in La Seyne Sur Mer. It costs 3.50 EUR per person roundtrip. From there, you can take a boat to get to Toulon. We did not go to Toulon anymore because of the bad weather, but the driver of the mini train says it will take 10 minutes by boat to go to Toulon for 2 EUR each way.

We did not really know what to do in there and wished that Celebrity would be more forthcoming as to where it would dock. They just said it would dock in Toulon but that is not really the case.
