Beware price rip offs!

Beware price rip offs! I was just in Costa maya off the Miracle. We bought tickets for the cab ride to Mahahual (Fisherman's Village). I asked how many pesos, since I had some from another trip. She just took 220 pesos. I was getting grief from my family and was distracted, so I didn't realize until later that that was $20 when it should have been $12 ( for four people). Rip off. Then at the beach we had a bill to pay for food and drinks. It had no prices on it, so we asked for a breakdown, It turned out he overcharged us $12 ( about 30%). It took a half hour for the server to get around to checking out our question on what we thought was a higher bill than should have been. All the items in the little shops were $10, but they expected to bargin. So watch your pesos!

Too bad. I always invite tourists to visit mahahual and interact with the locals. I think this isn't what most people in costa maya want for the tourists. This happens in costa maya, belize, jamaica and even in cozumel. I think there's people who wouldn't miss the chance to get some extra from the tourists, but believe me, most people cares for visitors.
