Long Distance Calling Cards

Could anyone advise us on the best calling cards to purchase for long distance calls form Australia & New Zealand to Canada & the best place to pick them up?

We will pass through the airport in Sydney but all of our NZ stops are by cruise ship.

Any advise/tips on calling from there (ie: where to find pay phones & what to look for)?

I would also be interested, but need a card from OZ and NZ to US.

Are pay phones readily available in OZ and NZ? Cell phones have pretty much driven pay phones into extinction here in California.
