You may want to check back with Sheraton, as sometimes, bookings will cancel, and you will be able to book with them. We are staying there Jan. 26 and 27 before we board the Serenade. I got it on Hotwire a couple weeks ago. You may want to check out the Ports of Call section for San Juan for some advice. There are a couple threads regarding hotels in San Juan. Good Luck!

I just checked and the Sheraton Old San Juan seems to be sold out for January 27th, what would be all of you experienced cruisers second (maybe even third just in case) choice??? Thank you.....

The Sheraton in Old San Juan will only book for 2 nights, that could be why it comes up that they are sold out. I kept trying for my December crusie and after calling several times they told me about this. We ended up booking through priceline and got the Intercontinental San Juan Resort Spa & Casino. I don't know anything about the Intercontinenal execpt what I have read on CC. It had good reviews, I hope it is true.

We booked a few nights at the Intercontinental a few years back. It was a pretty nice hotel. The staff was not friendly but the beach was outstanding. We would stay here again.

I'm not sure how you are trying to book it (online/call) but we always enjoy staying at El Convento in OSJ. This year they had something on their website that would only allow you to book two nights. I called and was told the same thing.

I called my TA, whom I booked the cruise through and asked them if they could arrange my one night pre-cruise hotel stay at El Convento -- and they did without any issues.

If you really want to stay at the Sheraton OSJ, you might try asking if your TA can make the reservation for you.

Good luck!

Ann

Thanks so much.... I was just thinking we wanted something easy, and the Sheraton looked easy... :) We get in late in the afternoon and will want to get on the ship as soon as we can.... :) How about Courtyard by Marriott San Juan Miramar??? Looks pretty good on Trip Advisor (I'm a Trip Advisor addict, I asked here because I thought cruisers would have thier favorites....) and it looks pretty goos..... I can get it for $130, that seems pretty good to me..... ??? Any thoughts??

We will be on the Serenade also, four girls on girls week... :) Husbands are staying home.......

Thanks again for all the help....

I agree completely. I was able to get the Intercontinental on Priceline for about $100 a night and really liked the hotel and Isla Verde area. Like you, I found the staff to be among the worst and particularly the front desk staff, which, in my experience is very unusual for San Juan.

To the OP, I would get to know the bidding process on Priceline by checking out www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com and then bid for a Resort level hotel - all of which are good hotels. Just remember that most add a daily resort fee which you must also pay upon checkout.

We stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan for 2 nights before our January 2 cruise on Adventure. It was nice and we were able to walk around Old San Juan for those days. When I went to book it for a pre cruise stay before our cruise on Serenade for October, I could not book it as it was only for one night. We ended up staying at the Marriott Stelaris San Juan Resort and Casino with a AAA rate. We have enjoyed both hotels. The Marriott was within walking distance of a Walgreens for any needed toiletries, etc for the cruise and many restaurants. It is also Oceanfront. Both are about equal distance to the cruise ship pier as Royal does not embark in Old San Juan, but at the Pan American Pier across the harbor.

We walked by this hotel & it looked very nice.

Please beware of Hotel Cervantes, that's where we booked when the Sheraton sold out. When we arrived, we were told there was no AC & that the Sheraton had no rooms. We walked to Sheraton & lucked out with their last remaining room at a nice discount.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but can you give me some idea how you got the OSJ Sheraton on Hotwire/Priceline? Was it just the luck of the draw or is there a trick to knowing which one is going to come up. I stayed there this month before the Victory cruise and loved it. I want to stay there with my grown children in May but the regular price is outrageous in May and was hoping for a deal. I've never used either site before so am just a little worried about it. Any ideas?

The Sheraton is a 3 1/2 stars hotel. Check only the San Juan area hotels. The amenities listed for that hotel are: casino, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, hi-speed internet, tennis near by. This is what I have found thru cruise critic if you want the Sheraton Old San Juan. Good luck!

I am trying to book the Sheraton for October 13 2012 and website says not available! I stayed there before when it was a Wyndham property and loved the location. We are looking for 1 night pre cruise and a few nights post cruise. Any suggestions?

I just tried for our November 2012 cruise, 1 night, and found that it was not available. When I put in 2 nights, a room became available. I'm assuming there is a 2 night minimum?

Try calling the Sheraton in OSJ directly. I did this, and they were willing to book me for one night when the website said no rooms were available. The only catch--it was rather expensive, but still less so than going thru Royal Carib. That was outrageous, but that is another option if you really want to stay there. Good luck.

DJ thank you SO much. I'm going to give it a try I think. I see you're sailing a couple weeks after me (my second Victory cruise) and mine is also a mother daughter cruise..with a couple of fiance/boyfriends thrown in as well. Theirs, not mine! :)
