Information On Planning Meet & Greets And Other Onboard Events

You DO NOT need the help of anyone to plan onboard events. Whether it is for members of your Cruise Critic Roll Call, a Family Reunion, or just a group of friends - you can do it by yourself!

1) Private Party Meet & Greet - We are talking about a preplanned private party for a group of people. Carnival requires a minimum of 20 people to set a specific time and place and assign staff to it. This needs to be organized through one person and the event will be charged to that single person's Sail & Sign account. You will need to contact groupeventplanning@carnival.com to get the ball rolling. Once you have started this communication with Carnival they will give you a direct email to the event planner specific to your ship and date of sailing. Your correspondence will be with them directly from then on. They will try and get a preliminary number of guests from you about 5-6 weeks out from sailing. Here they will verify that the location capacity will work with your current group size. A final firm guest count will need to be reported to them the week prior to sailing. If your guest count falls below 20 you can still have the event but you will just need to pay for the minimum 20 people (you can always recruit a couple more people once onboard if you need to, mentioning open bar to a fellow cruiser for $10/hr will typically make them drool and hand over cash immediatley).

2) Informal Meet & Greet - These can be organized or impromptu. Organized ones will tend to have more guests. Impromptu ones, well you just don't know what you'll get. For this reason some ships don't automatically plan for a Cruise Critic Meet & Greet unless there is some interest already shown. If there is an Informal Meet & Greet planned it will typically be posted in the Fun Times. They are typically at a location where other cruisers will be around and able to join.

3) Cabin Crawl - Get 5-8 Cabin Hosts to open up there cabins up for about 10-15 minutes a piece. Hopefully we can get at least one cabin from each type (interior, ocean view, balcony, ocean suite and grande suite). This way everyone gets a chance to see a variety of cabins along the crawl. Usually start at the bottom of the ship and work our way up. You can play poker along the way. Cabin Hosts can offer some sort of beverage (beer/shot/soda) and/or snacks - you don't need to be specific, surprises are always good.

4) Slot Pull - Group Slot Machine Pull. Each player will give a certain amount of $$ as entry fee (please have them bring exact cash!) to the organizer. You can also have the option for a High Roller Pot. The High Roller Pot is paid at the end to the player with the highest total winnings during their individual turn. Once all players have taken their turn the organizer will remove any remaining money from the machine and divide it equally among all the players.

Events are a great way to meet new people and have fun experiences onboard. That being said the larger they are the more chance you have of having a few people who don't have the best of intentions. Most events run without any problems don't let few bad ones among hundreds or great ones discourage you from planning or attending an event.
