Plan on making a reservation at Gaido’s Seaside Inn, like to know if anyone knows how much a cab to the pier is? Plus is there any stores within walking distance to pick up water and wine?

Thanks in advance. :)

I think we got charged $16 for a taxi, but the taxi first went the wrong way saying scenic route.. and I was like.. hey stop that... and made him take me to the pier, so it could be $1 or $2 less.

Gaidos is just a walk up like travelodge, a very old hotel. Id think 1 star at most.. its nothing. dont assume its good because of gaidos seafood.

If its more than $45 Id keep looking.

We've stayed at Gaidos the last two years when cruising out of Galveston. It is an older motel type place, but we like it...and for the price its ok. If you want a swanky, fancy hotel dont bother staying there. They do have a cruise special which will give you 10 0r 15 percent off your rooms and $10 off a meal in either of their restraunts...we always eat at Caseys...love their shrimp!! Gaidos restraunt is more classy...but also more $$$...and for this hillbilly, Caseys is plenty good enough. As already stated, the Kroger store is a few blocks west along the Seawall...its a very nice store, with a huge selection. As for the cab ride to the cruise pier, last week it cost us $14 going and $13 returning...not including tip. As with most hotels in Galveston, Gaidos also has free cruise parking.:)
