Rotterdam wi-fi

Can anyone tell me how slow the Internet connection is at the hot spots on Rotterdam? I will be bringing my iPad and hope that I will be able to use it without too much frustration when at sea.

I've never been on the Rotterdam, but on all ships where I've run speed tests it typically is about 10 times dial-up speed, or 1/10 DSL - around 500 kbps. It is far worse than that at high latitudes, like the Baltic or Alaska. :)

We were on the Rotterdam for 30 days last March and the connection was good. Not as fast as home, but not bad. Try to use it at a time when everyone else isn't using it too. We usually used the desk on deck 3 at the bottom of the atrium. No one else was every around.

If you are near one of these hallway antennas you may get a good connection right in your cabin. Opening the door a few inches often helps.

Depends entirely on how many users are on the satellite as the bandwidth is limited.

More users during a sea day means its slower - fewer while the ship is in port or at night means its faster.
