Jridou Posted December 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2011 We're renting a car from Alamo for a few days before our cruise, so we were going to have my husband drop us off at the pier and then return the car & take the shuttle back to meet us. I remember the last time we cruised out of Miami, we waited FOREVER to get thru security to get into the port. Does Port Everglades get that bad? We're cruising out on the 24rth and there are a couple of huge ships leaving the same day. (We're on the Eurodam) If security is going to be 30+ minutes each time, I'd just assume stick together and all take the shuttle. But if the security is quick, I'd rather have him drop us to leave room on the shuttle for other people. Ideas? Thanks.
setsail Posted December 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2011 Last week they were checking all ID and looking into the trunks of all the cabs at the security gate(off 17th st) at PE. Took maybe 15 min. to get through at 1115 am
fireofficer5 Posted December 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2011 The security is a joke at P. E. The rental company will be able to go through the faster line. Have everyone go in the rental company shuttle if its free and large enough. Think about it, who are they looking for and what are they looking for. Port of miami has no checkpoints. Putterdude Posted December 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2011 If you arrive at the gates before noon you can expect up to 15 min delays....you become quite aware of this as the taxi meter is running.
