Rio Grande - is Cassino Beach possible?

Hi! We are sailing on a RSSC cruise in February from Buenos Aires to Rio. We are stopping in the port (town) of Rio Grande. I've tried using the search function, but I'm at a loss for what to do. Our family loves beaches and I'm quite intrigued by the world's largest beach (Cassino) being so close! Has anyone been there while in port? How difficult/far was it to get there? Any other ideas for what to do in Rio Grande?

Are taxis easy to get? How is the beach - easy and accessible to public ? Safe ?
