kids at bars/past guest parties

Restaurants serve alcoholic drinks and children are allowed in them.

There is also music in the atrium and it has a bar. Should children be not allowed in the atrium?

I remember seeing bands playing across for bars on ships. Kids are allowed there.

Can kids go on the dance floor?

I guess if you don’t want to be around kids eat in your cabin or the steak house every night. Go to the serenity area, casino or the late night comedy shows.

Right!?

Or they could book an All Adult Cruise...

When this 9 y/o adult (fo5) sets a bad example, who's to blame.

;)

You are because quite frankly I'm not interested in seeing your bad behavior on my vacation any more than I would want to see a 9 year old or person of any age behaving badly. Some of the behavior being referred to here is hardly "adult". It is drunken, rude, loutish, boorish behavior that would be offensive to me if I was in a lounge with you and you were acting out.

This really has nothing to do with age. Unfortunately I cannot shield my children from all of the clods in the world. They will be witness to bad behavior in all walks of their existence from school, to sports, to the beach or pool, to restaurants, social gatherings and cruise ship lounges.

That does not mean I am going to alter my vacation with my family. If there is a family friendly activity going on in a lounge on the ship that happens to have a bar serving alcohol, I am not going to miss out on trivia, karaoke, game show, band, family friendly comedian, juggler, magician etc. just because you choose to make a spectacle of yourself. That is your problem. I will just use it as a moment to remind my kids how proud I am that they are such amazing people and that I am exceptionally pleased to know that they, even at their tender ages, are more mature than you.

Oh, please, please, please bring your kids to the bar!! We soooooo enjoy having YOUR kids there. It's such a learning experience for them! It's such fun for them. What child would rather be in the bar sitting at a table, listening to "normal" songs than at the pool? Face it, you are the one who doesn't want to sit poolside with your little darlings. In the meantime, we adults scratch our heads and wonder why the kids are at an adult venue.

You are so right!!! There is a big difference in the Past guest party and a bar on ship. Bars/lounges should be for adults. We will be cruising with our whole family in February. Five adults 3 children. When we are with the our grandchildren we will not be in the bars/lounges we will be in the places that are appropriate for children. When our grandchildren are at camp Carnival then we will be doing things that are appropriate for adults such as enjoying the bars/lounges. It used to be somethings were just not acceptable to do with children along. It still isn't, some people just don't know its not acceptable.

Have you considered that you might just be outdated?;)

There are appropriate surroundings for children, and there are inappropriate surroundings for children. Being a parent some times means you don't get to do what you want to do..... because your children's well being comes first.

A grill and bar area serves food and soft drinks among other things. It's main purpose would be the food. A bar area on the Lido deck of a ship is in an open area of the ship, and it's acknowledged that all manner of people will be patrons at said area. I have absolutely no problem with children being in these venues.

A closed room such as the Piano Bar, the Disco, the Martini Bar are only open at specified hours for a specified purpose. The soft drinks there may be served, but their main purpose is mixers for alcohol. A adult oriented venue.

I didn't take my children to adult oriented venues when they were younger. They are not small adults. If that's discriminatory, I'll keep discriminating. I don't want to go to a BAR and hang out with children.

no kids at the bar.

they get their glass and leave.

the rule should be, 18 and up sitting at the bar.

kids should sit at the tables with the parents.

never let underage girls in the disco, because i'm in there. i'm good at what i do.

Pretty much agree with this.

Still completely ignoring the fact that on Carnival there are specified bars and areas for adults and that the rest of the ship is family friendly.

I agree with this 100%. Like others I don't go to those venues to chat with kids sitting at the bar. I have seen unaccompanied minors be ask not to sit at the Casino bar and the Sports bar on several occasions.
