ajenali Posted January 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2012 my daughter and myself are booked and ready to go....in 57 days.:D (i just had to say it. lol). she has a friend that may go with us. if she does go, my questions are: 1. we have to trade cabins due to the 3rd person, if she changes her mind at the last minute will i be bumped from my cabin to another when we get to the terminal and check in? or will i be okay? if she were 21 and legal, i wouldnt care. but i cant exactly show up and say, i dont know where she is. 2. she does not have a passport. my TA and a PVP have assured me that she will be fine with a birth certificate, second ID, and notarized letter from her parents giving permission for her to go. only going to the Bahamas. I am still nervous!!! i dont want to get there and lose out on my trip because she doesnt have a passport. anybody done this lately and have a good outcome? tell me your bad outcomes too, just so im prepared. :( 3. anyone who has taken a "friend", please tell me what to expect! any problems, issues, coulda/shoulda/woulda's? Thanks!!!!
sweeks82 Posted January 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2012 I can't answer your questions regarding the cabin but we took my niece and her friend with us on a cruise last year. Her friend did not have a passport and all we needed was a birth certificate (she was 12) and a notarized letter from her parents given us permission to take her on the cruise (and the islands we went to). Also, make sure you get permission for medical treatment in case of an emergency.
Cjlovestocruise Posted January 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2012 I traveled with a BC in Nov. with no problem. I can't say for sure about the cabin but I think because you will have paid for a cabin for 3 you will be able to keep it even if there are only two of you. I hate to be a "downer" but you might want to read this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=729959 it has a lot of information of what can go wrong bringing a friend along (check out post 14)
helicopter Posted January 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2012 Take her and have a wonderful time:) As close as you are to sailing chances are slim you would have to move cabins if she cancels. BC and signed letter is all she needs, unless she is over sixteen and then she will need second ID (school ID will work).
