ashpam Posted January 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Am looking for a nice beach to do some snorkelling with my family. I however am not a very strong swimmer (actually not a swimmer at all if the ability to float doesn't count :o) and was wondering any suggestions for a beach that is easy to access for snorkelling, isn't too rough and isn't too crowded? We are sailing on the Norwegian Epic on February 11 and should be hitting STVI on Wednesday February 15. Thank you in advance for any advice! :D
marys350 Posted January 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2012 At Coki Beach, you can snorkel and see fish even in shallow water.
blue_water Posted January 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Coki is beautiful and offers great snorkeling but can be crowded, if you want a less crowded beach Sapphire also has great snorkeling off the beach with a reef and a sea grass area where you may spot sea turtles and rays. Both are on the East End and a $10pp taxi each way.
ashpam Posted January 16, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Thank you all for the advice! Would you happen to know if Sapphire beach has those little waterboards kids use to swim in pools? If not, I can just "borrow" one from our local pool. :D
blue_water Posted January 16, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2012 We spent a week at the Sapphire Resort and we used the "floaties" they rent there, they are the foam type, about 5 feet long (like a chaise lounge pad). I didn't notice if they rented the small boogie boards, sorry...
