MISSSNOOPYGIRL Posted January 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Just wondering if you and your spouse ever go do different things individually, like he watch a sports game and she lay by the pool? Sometimes I like a little "me only" time but when I suggested this to hubby last time he felt slighted!
nytonowhere Posted January 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2012 yes of course! he doesnt like laying around at the pool...so he goes off and does whatever he does while i lay around..he checks in periodically to have a drink or eat...i guess if i was doing anything else but laying around he might feel slighted. dfmeeks Posted January 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2012 I enjoy gambling but DH doesn't. Also, I need some time alone! So, while he's on our balcony with his kindle, I take off to the casino & donate money. Both of us are happy!
QLUVS2CRUZ Posted January 16, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2012 LOL...most definitely. Of course we eat dinner together, and we always do all activities in ports together. We will both look in the shops and walk around a few times...go to shows, etc...but on sea days I am at the pool and DH is usually in the cabin. He likes to spend a lot of time reading, so we always get at least an OV so there is light in the cabin. Also I like to really peruse the Duty Free, so I will usually visit the shops a couple of times by myself. The biggest difference between DH and me is that I like to sit out in the sun and DH doesn't, so pool time is usually spent separated.
big_duck Posted January 16, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2012 All the time. She'll go to a show whilst I stay in the Casino. Even when we are both in the Casino she is at the slots and I'm at a table somewhere. Sometimes we even go on a whole cruise without each other. Kidsgoneletscruise Posted January 16, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Sure! I like to go out and be among people much more than my husband does. I also enjoy many of the daily activities while he enjoys the evening shows.
michelle1836 Posted January 16, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2012 not often. he doesnt like laying out so he will sit at a nearby table in the shade reading his geek books :D
Kitt Lady Posted January 16, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Our first cruise I felt that I needed to Schedule DH's "At Sea Day"...turned out he wanted the "me" time. So this cruise - we both have massages booked. Mine is in the morning and his is in the afternoon.
GeorgiaMomof4 Posted January 16, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Always! There are 6 of us so if we didn't separate no one would have a good time. I'm a sun lover so I spend lots of time out on deck on sea days - husband isn't. He wanders through the ship - maybe the casino, catches some trivia, eats, whatever. Older girls spend some time with me but wander around on their own too. Younger ones get to go to Camp Carnival, but also spend some time out with Mom on waterslides or maybe with Dad at miniature golf. That way everyone gets much needed "me" time. We always eat dinner together and usually breakfast too. We also always spend our port days together sightseeing or whatever it is we are going to do. Makes for a much happer vacation when everyone gets to do something they enjoy - doesn't mean we love each other any less!
mjhbrown Posted January 16, 2012 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2012 We spend tons of time apart! That is one of the best things about being on a cruise, we can do separate things but still meet up with each other. My husband is a very early riser and he can go up on deck and have coffee and watch the sunrise while I serenely sleep! We do shore excursions together and eat dinner together but while on the ship, we may do different things.
P&C2011 Posted January 16, 2012 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2012 We spend only a little bit of time apart. On a given day we may separate for an hour when either 1) my husband is tired of hanging out at the pool with me or 2) he might head off to the casino while I shower and get ready for the evening. However, I must say that we are rather newly married - so that may have something to do with us spending so much time together.
kcroxyoursox Posted January 16, 2012 #12 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Yes, but only because we cruise in a large group of friends. Even then, we know where the other one is and when we'll be meeting up again. It's usually the girls at an activity, the guys running up to grab pizza and beer and then meeting us back where we last were. The one time we cruised just the two of us we stuck pretty close together. I cruise with my husband because I enjoy his company and want to recharge as a couple without daily life getting in the way. Then again, neither of us is a "do nothing" kind of person (we can do that at home for free) so would probably wind up at most of the same activities anyway. golfadj Posted January 16, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 16, 2012 We will at times but not often but usually because I like sports so she will go off and read. Or she likes to take a nap in the afternoon so I will often go off and read or eat a second lunch.
familycruzr Posted January 16, 2012 #14 Share Posted January 16, 2012 All the time. My husband doesn't sit in one place for long. I can sit and read all day. He is also and early riser and I like to sleep in. We do most shore excursions together. He is a certified diver and I am not, so he'll do a dive trip without me. Other than that port time and dinner is always together. On sea days, he'll sit with me for a while, then take off to do something. It's one of the things I love about cruising. We all get what we want.
ragen Posted January 16, 2012 #15 Share Posted January 16, 2012 We do most things together on the ship, but in ports, she likes to stay onboard the ship, but I like to wonder far off the beaten tourist path.
SuzanneH Posted January 16, 2012 #16 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Most definitely we do. We take a sticky note pad and leave msgs to eachother throughout the day if we are apart, and always set up a time to meet later. Works for us. DH would be sooooooo bored laying out on the sundeck :D.
Room Service! Posted January 16, 2012 #17 Share Posted January 16, 2012 A bit, but not too much. We'll sunbathe, but he's not a big fan, so he'll wander around or watch football. In the late evening he may hit the bars while I watch a movie. Other than that, we're together.
jburk Posted January 16, 2012 #18 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Last cruise DH and I stuck to each other like velcro. But it was our 10 yr anniversary cruise. Next cruise is with the kids and a total of 10 family members so we will split up for sure. I didnt mind being with him 24/7.
Beebob1 Posted January 16, 2012 #19 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Yes we don't have all the same interest. However we do make "our" time a lot.
sweetlissa Posted January 16, 2012 #20 Share Posted January 16, 2012 very rarely, if we are apart, it's b/c we're in different sections of the casino but honestly it's whatever works for y'all
Dee777 Posted January 16, 2012 #21 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Just wondering if you and your spouse ever go do different things individually, like he watch a sports game and she lay by the pool? Sometimes I like a little "me only" time but when I suggested this to hubby last time he felt slighted! Sometimes, I find that I get pooped out early on a cruise, must be all that sea air! I will encourage DH to go watch the comedian without me then I go have a hot shower and curl up with a good book and glass of wine and relax until he comes back. Other than that we usually hang out together most times.
parrothead74 Posted January 16, 2012 #22 Share Posted January 16, 2012 DW will just check the folio on the TV to see where the last drink was purchased and find me there, LOL!

Sometimes I like a little "me only" time but when I suggested this to hubby last time he felt slighted! Do you do some things separately at home? It's healthy to have a little time doing your own thing. My wife and I could day pretty much go all day without seeing each other on a ship. She'll be in the sun with a DOD and I'll be hiding away somewhere with a book and a burger. :D In ports we are always together, though. She needs me to carry stuff. :(
Imoutatym Posted January 16, 2012 #24 Share Posted January 16, 2012 Sounds like some alone time is the norm for most folks. In our case, DW likes to sleep in while I'm out on deck taking pictures of the sunrise or approaching port and enjoying my coffee. She let's me wander 'cause she knows I can't go very far or get lost for long....:o
w4kry Posted January 16, 2012 #25 Share Posted January 16, 2012 we seem to stay together, sometimes I will be laying in the sun and he will pull his chair into the shade. But we enjoy each other's company and we have been married for 17 years!
