Vale Posted April 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2005 If you take the ferry over to Caye Caulker how far is the sand spit (where the swimming beach is) from where the ferry leaves you off?
Vale Posted April 16, 2005 Author #2 Share Posted April 16, 2005 Anyone?? I'm sure someone knows the answer to this question!
zydecocruiser Posted April 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2005 The split is to the right in this map (North end of island in reality, me thinks). Looks like a few blocks from where the water taxi will drop you off. You might try asking these folks: http://www.cayecaulkerwatertaxi.com/pages/4/index.htm
Vale Posted April 17, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted April 17, 2005 Thanks so much Zydecocruiser! Really enjoy all your pictures. The underwater scenes are incredible.
zydecocruiser Posted April 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2005 You're welcome. I see a reference here that is is about half a mile to the split from the water taxi, but still not that far. http://www.cybercayecaulker.com/split.htm The golf carts rent for $10/hr if you are interested in zipping around the island. grizzy Posted April 18, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2005 I hope you know Caye Caulker isn't real beachy. I guess what I mean is there isn't a beach entrance to the water that isn't filled with sea grass. You can jump in the water from the concrete dock at the split but I don't know if it's what I would classify as a "swimming beach" as you called it. My group had fun there but if you're looking to lounge in the sand and wade in the water I would do it at Costa Maya, Cozumel, or Grand Cayman (if you're stopping at any of those). You can follow the link below to my review that includes what we did in Caye Caulker and you can also go to my album to see pics. Chris

Vale Posted April 21, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted April 21, 2005 Thanks Chris. Nice pictures and review. Not sure we could manage jumping off docks and climbing ladders to get back up since we are seniors.
