e150club Posted January 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Everyone keeps saying the Concordia capsized. I thought capsized is upside down or 180 deg. She is laying on her side. Less then 90 deg. or more then 270 deg. Am I rght or wrong?
Jax1023 Posted January 21, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2012 No in nautical terms, capsized a ship on its side. I dont think it has be 90 degrees, just a point that can;t be recovered to upright. Turtled is upside down, but I doubt that would even be possible on a ship that size. Basically only small sailing dinghys turtle due to the physics of the whole situation
e150club Posted January 22, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted January 22, 2012 I think if they plate over the holes in the hull and pump out the water she will float again. What happens after that who knows. I hope they can get the fuel out asap.
Nikki Lisette Posted January 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2012 I don't know anything about ships or boats or whatnot. But it seems like they should be able to pump the fuel out now and then have a better opportunity to locate any remains on an upright boat. l suspect some of the missing are trapped between the starboard side and the island. :(
