we get into port on Thursday - our flight home is at 3:30 out of Miami. What time will they kick us off the ship? any recommendations on things to do in Miami before we go to airport? Don't want to be at airport for 5 hours?

Carnival has several shore excursions available in Miami that pick you up at the ship, take you on the excursion and then to the airport. I booked one for an upcoming cruise. As far as what time you have to get off the ship, usually people are off by 8:30 - 9:00 and they really "encourage" you to get off so they can prepare the ship for the next passengers. I think 10:00 would be about the latest you could get off. Nancy

For us, the latest was 10 AM. Disembarkation began at 8. We also had a 3:30 flight so we booked the South Beach Experience w/ MIA transfer through Carnival. This was a really good tour and we enjoyed it but we felt that the timing was cutting it too close for our flight. We got to the airport at 1:30. Now, part of it was our own fault because we had to go get changed etc. before checking in and by the time we did that (about 2), the line up was insane to drop our bags at the Delta counter. They don't separate the international flights from the domestic at MIA and there was a bunch of people flying to Amsterdam at the same time, with tons of luggage. It was nuts. We wouldn't have made it if an agent hadn't pulled us out of that line. One other family on our tour who went straight to check in did get to the gate well before us so it could work, just something to be aware of.
