momtoabowhead Posted January 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2012 How does it work? When we get to the Port, is there a sign directing us? I've never booked a suite before and I haven't ever noticed a VIP line. We're on the Dream out of Port Canaveral. Thanks!
cantwaittocruise12 Posted January 26, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2012 For the Carnival Pride leaving out of Baltimore there is a person that will direct you to the VIP area...and I believe there was a sign as well. We went into an office of sorts and sat down while we waited for the previous party to be checked in. Then we were escorted to a separate section of chairs to wait for boarding. Very nice and painless. Enjoy your cruise!

It' a surprise for DF, so I don't want it spoiled before he sees the room LOL.

You drop your bags with a porter then walk past all the people in the regular line to the far end. You go through security there, then you go up the escalator and turn to your left. The VIP lounge where you will get your S&S card is at the end of the wall on your left. After you have been checked in you leave that lounge and they direct you to seats reserved for VIP and then you board the ship after the weddings and handicapped guests. I usually get to the pier around 10:45 and we're usually on the ship by 11:45.

As long as nobody says the word suite, we are golden. He thinks all honeymooners get VIP. :) I covered that issue already.
JP4GA Posted January 26, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2012 If you do not see a sign be sure to ask the person who looks at your ticket. If they are really busy sometimes they don't really "look" at the tickets and just direct you to the long line. VIP checkin was AWESOME, so much more laid back and comfortable. futureAG Posted January 26, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 26, 2012 I don't mean to hijack this thread by any means But I'm wondering the same thing for the VIP boarding for Galveston. I've heard they have done MAJOR updates to the Carnival terminal for the Magic. Anyone know how the VIP works in TX? We were VIP for our Alaska honeymoon cruise. The port at Vancouver only had those little poles with the belt line separating the VIPs form the other cruisers It was soooo not VIP! Granted we did only have to wait about 20 mins in line compared to hours, but once we got past the VIP check in it was right back in line with everyone else for our S&S cards. Before check in we were also in the same security line & customs line. Kinda disappointing.

There is a separate line outside of the terminal, far west end of building, right before the regular entrance. It is clearly marked and roped off, you cannot miss it. We were on the Magic in Nov and noticed the change.

I guess this means there are x-ray & security lines for VIP!!This makes me happy!!
MuffyKismet Posted January 30, 2012 #11 Share Posted January 30, 2012 We are Platnium cruisers and we just went on the Dream last October. When we got there a group had just gone infront of us VIP as well, so another carnival rep took us straight up to one of the regular check in clerks and put us infront of everyone else and had them check us in and give us our S & S cards and then escorted us up to board the ship! Normally you do go into the VIP room check in and they call your name and then they give you your S&S cards and they take you up as a group to board the ship. Either way you don't wait in line, but for those that do , they have streamlined the process so much now that really the lines go very quickly and getting on board is super easy. What I really like about our VIP status is getting off the ship first while in ports, especially ports you have to take a tender, all you do is go down to the pursers desk and tell them you request early debarktion at the next port then they tell you what time to meet them the next morning.....again no waiting in those lines (which can be aweful)!! And getting laundry done for free 1X is a nice perk as well , usually we take advantage of that perk 3/4 way through the cruise...nice clean cloths to pack! then when you get home just put them away! You also get petit fores ( I know I miss spelled that) deliverd to your cabin 1X and of course a small gift (picture frames, thermas bottles , small back pack....never know what your gonna get. And if you should have questions or need assistance there is a platnium line at the pursers desk as well :)
