timgram Posted January 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2012 Does anyone know if the specialty restaurants on the Marina are open and serving dinner on embarkation day- the first night of the cruise? This is our 4th Oceania cruise and I have this nagging thought that they are not, but I hope I'm wrong.

The indoor restaurants are all open on every night that passengers are on the ship during the evening. In fact, if your scheduled departure time is later in the evening, it may be possible to dine in a Specialty BEFORE you sail. ;)
rubysue Posted January 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2012 We embarked on a cruise on Marina last September in Venice and we made a reservation in Jacques for that first night on-board. We didn't sail until midnight the next day and had already spent two nights in Venice prior to boarding. Jacques was ony about half-full, but it was a delightful experience. I think our itinerary enhanced the experience, because we used the next day still docked in Venice as our "day at sea" on a very port intensive cruise and even took a culinary class (definitely worked as dinner). I would not hesitate to consider booking a specialty restaurant again on embarkation night. All four of the Marina specialty restaurants, IMHO, are superb, as is the Terrace cafe. The GDR is very nice, but we only ate there once on our 12-day cruise.
