Using Onboard Credits - HELP!

I do realize that "onboard" is in the name of these credits, but shouldn't I be able to use these for shore excursions and transfers? It only lets me charge these to a credit card when I try to purchase these types of things on Carnival's website. Any help would be appreciated!

OBC is used after you board ship. It will be a credit on your Sign and Sail account.....anything you purchase aboard ship is charged to your room, and the credit will show up there. What you purchase with your credit card itself, like prepaying shore exursions, will not show up on your room bill.

If you wait until you are on board and charge your excursions to your account then you would in effect be using the OBC to pay the excrusions. I do not think you can use the OBC in advance of being on board.

Your OBC is only active after you board....if we have any left over which we usually do...we go to the casino and cash it out on a machine at the end of the trip...

 

With the exception of our last trip..i went a little crazy in the jewelry store...:D

If you want to use your OBC to pay for your excursions then you can do 1 of two things....

1. Wait to book your excursions until you are on the ship

 

or

 

2. Book in advance with your credit card and use the money from your OBC to pay the credit card.

 

If you dont use your OBC then at the end of the sailing they give you a check.

Got it. Thanks everyone. It just seemed weird that I couldn't use the credit now for the same thing that you can use it for once you are onboard (shore excursions), but I won't try to understand it! :)
