KJE Atlanta Posted February 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2012 We are on the Jade in a few weeks. As everyone knows, the Jade stays in Europe year round. While the currency on board is U.S. Dollars, my question is whether the butler and concierge, who we tip separately (they're not in the DSC pool), would prefer to be tipped in U.S. Dollars or Euros? Any thoughts? Just want to make sure we bring the appropriate amount of one or the other or both. Thanks.
Fine and Jim Dandy Posted February 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2012 I would go with euros. The crew gets off at different ports for shopping and pleasure just like passengers. I would think euros would be easier/better for spending on the local economy.
time2cruise1 Posted February 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2012 They are happy with either. I would not spend money to convert dollars to euros to tip. Most will get sent home as dollars. Those with euros as their currency will tip in euros. The crew moves from ship to ship and for the most part want to get back to a ship sailing from a US port. Tips are hard to come by in Europe. cruzinaway Posted February 1, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2012 We've always tipped in dollars but I would think either currency would be appreciated. Enjoy your cruise!!!
