What to do on a sunday in monaco

We will be docking in Monaco on a Sunday in October. This is our third time to this area and had planned to either stay in Monaco and tour the Royal Palace or go to Nice and Eze by train.

I read this moring that the Royal Palace is closed on Sundays, which made me

wonder if the shops in Monaco, Nice, Eze, St Paul de Vence etc. will be closed on a Sunday.

Also what about the trains and/or busses on Sunday?

The best place to go on a Sunday is St Paul de Vence (this is where even the French go on nice Sundays) but its quite a trip from Monte Carlo. In St Paul you will find most of the shops and galleries open on Sundays (this is a very artsy community). As to Monte Carlo, just about everything is closed on Sundays although DW (who really dislikes MC) would say it doesnt matter if stuff is open or closed as she just likes to get out town :)

Thank you Hank. The last time we docked in Monaco we had scheduled an all day tour whichi included Nice, Eze and St Paul de Vence. I just realized today that is was also on a Sunday. I agree that St Paul de Vence is a lovely place and was my favorite stop on the tour. This time though we really want to to go the Royal Palace and spend an easy day around Monaco and Monte Carlo. I have found that the Palace will be open after all and, hopefully, we will be able to re-visit the Cathedral after Mass is held.

We actually went up to the Palace on one of our visits and it turned out to be more then expected. While we were standing by the gates they suddenly opened the main gates and along came a large Rolls with Prince Albert smiling and waving from the back seat. DW was distracted and looking elsewhere and missed the entire show (this all happened in a few seconds). We were still able to get a tour of the inside of the Palace although that was limited to only a few public rooms.

How wonderful for you. What a great story. They say the third time's the charm so hopefully I will actually get in to see the Palace on this our third visit to Monaco.

In 2009 we were standing in front of the Monte Carlo Casino and a dark sports car drove past around the circle in front. Paparazzi swarmed the car laying across the hood to take photos throught he windshield (the side windows were tinted too dark to see through). We never did find out

who we "almost" saw but missed. But judging from the the crowd around that car it must have been someone very important.
