customs for cameras?

Readyto go

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if it is neccesary to go through the customs thing when one brings a camera? I heard that they can charge you when you return to the US.....I've been on 2 cruises already and never bothered and nothing happened, was I just lucky?

There would be no problem unless you had your camera out and it still had all the stickers on it that comes when it's new. Then they'd assume you just purchased it and are bringing it into the country. We took our cameras over to our local Customs office along with the purchase receipts and they filled out a form for us to keep with us certifying that the cameras were already "resident" in the U.S.
