Galveston Fog - Luggage Drop Off

Does anyone know if there is a delay boarding in Galveston due to fog, can you drop off your luggage at the port and then come back when it is time to board?

We just returned from our annual back to backs. Our first sailing was delayed because of fog. We stayed in the car at thee parking lot for a while. We did check our bags, though, without any problem. Many people left the terminal to explore aGalveeston.

You can check your luggage with the porters outside, and then not actually go inside to do the booking until later. But remember you'll still have any carry on to deal with
