howdypardner Posted February 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Sailing on the Glory in April. Going to w. Caribbean. Wondering which ports we will be tendering in? Also, do they use their lifeboats like Holland America does, or is it more like a ferry? Thanks for the info!
Colorado Kat Posted February 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Grand Cayman is usually a tender port, as is Belize. When I've been to Cayman via cruise ship, it's been Carnival, and I remember ferry-type boats, two story. Hold 300-400 people?
geerhart Posted February 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I was on the Glory to the West Carribean in January. We went to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan, and Cayman. Cayman was the only tender port. The boat is like a ferry, not a life boat. Have a great cruise..we did!!
elcuchio24 Posted February 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Grand Cayman is ALWAYS a tender port, they use local ferry's, it's a very quick ride.
John_Nebraska Posted February 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Been to Grand Cayman twice on the Carnival Liberty. It is always a tender port. The tenders dock at the Royal Watler pier. It depends on how many ships are in port how quick you will get there on a tender. Earlier this month, it took over an hour to get on a tender. There were ~5 cruise ships in the harbor. Last year, there was no wait to get on a tender. The tender is a typical 2-decker that holds ~300 people.
Rudyard Posted February 27, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 27, 2012 We were in Grand Cayman last week. There were a total of six ships there. One ship (Celebrity Equinox) used it's lifeboats but from what I could tell everyone else used tenders. There were enough tenders that there was never a long wait.
